If, knowing what you know now, you were able to impart a few pearls of wisdom to your younger self, what would you say?

There are several things I'd tell my younger self that I think would have a positive impact.

The attitude when I was a young adult was that earning power increases over time, and I thought that would be the case. I worked hard, and put myself through school, in the expectation that it would pay off. Knowing what I know now, I would have scaled back my expectations, worked even more than I did, and scrimped and saved. I might not have gone back to school in an effort to increase my earning power through additional education.

I would have used some of the extra income from the paragraph above, and invested in real estate.

I would have spent more time with my dad.

How about y'all? What few things would you tell your younger self if you could?

Don't smoke. Maybe finish College but then I wouldn't have met my husband and had my two wonderful children.

Not smoking would just benefit my health.

That's a good one, @Chrissy Page. I guess I could add that to my list :p. I started quite young, as I was around lots of smokers, and it seemed like the next step in my development. I quit several times over the years, once for 7 years, but I started back up and continued to smoke for about 9 years before I finally quit for good. That would have been another way to save a lot of money, in addition to the health benefits of never having smoked.

Yes spending more time with my dad, not wasting so much money and investing in property, but I doubt my younger self would listen to me anyway, he was like that.
I guess I am really pleased the way my life is now and has been for a long time..........................so maybe I would say go and sow your wild oats and look forward to your winter years.:)

The last public statement made by Yul Brynner not too long before his death was, "Whatever you do in your life, don't smoke!"

I will never forget the pleading earnestness on his face and in his voice, as though he were wishing that he might not have become a victim of smoking.

Let's see, what would I tell my younger self........

Stay in college and get a Degree......sure could have gone much further in my career and got a much better salary than I did.
Don't start smoking.......but that, and a hot cup of coffee, were the only things that kept me awake during an outside Mid-Watch (12AM to 4AM) at sea in the Navy. But, smoking a pack and a half a week sure isn't like what a "real" smoker does. It was pretty easy for me to stop.
There is much more to marriage, or even a relationship, than "looks" of a person and good sex. I know that now!

    Let Me see ....

    1. Run one more time.
    2. Don't smoke.
    3. Don't have babies until your 20's.
    4. Trust your instincts
    5. Don't make more money than the hubby.
    6. Love yourself before another.
    7. One for you, one for me, one for you, one for me.
    8. People lie.
    9. Remember no one owns you.
    10. Never be ashamed of who you are.

As you can tell, someone should have been around more when I was a child.

If it would be possible to talk to my younger self, maybe I would have a long list to tell her and I bet she would have changed a lot by rectifying the mistakes and improving some things that I should have done better. But the first and foremost in my list would be the advice to savor the presence of her loved ones. People don't live forever. Until now I couldn't come to terms that my father had died from liver cancer. He was gone just like that. And my mother is now incapacitated by a stroke. It was a good thing that in better times, I was able to take a vacation with my mother in Baguio City, the summer capital of the Philippines. But with my father, it was a total loss to me.

Ahh if I knew then what I know now...save for your old age. Get your BA as soon as you can. Get married at a young age. Don't leave your belongings outside in the garage (some valuables got stolen like my passport got stolen.
