I am enjoying my Monday morning coffee at 8 AM and doing a little on line banking like paying my Visa bill, my November rent on my Laptop.
I just went to the bank this morning to cash the one check I get every month. Everything else is direct deposit.
I bank online for almost everything.....I also get one check a month that I go to the bank in person to cash. But if I m just depositing it tht can be done online too with your iPhone. But I usually cash it...just to have some cash in case. My bank is in the same plaza as Trader Joe’s so I also make a pit stop there.
Is that a paper check as in the old days which one needs to cash? I wondered why they are still used? I haven't seen them for more than 15 years.
Seems that we have very little hands-on banking anymore. Our income is all deposited automatically, and most of our bills are on auto-pay. My husband reconciles the account a couple of times a month.
I pay my rent with a paper check since my landlord doesn't have direct deposit set up. It's the only check I write though.
I was struck because paper checks are simply not used anymore over here. Way too expensive and inconvenient. Banks have to offer bank accounts to everyone without exception so that direct deposit can be used.
My Pension and Socialized Security checks are direct-deposited. I go to the bank once or twice a month to make a small withdrawal. Hal
I use personal checks for a couple of monthly bills and at some local businesses that don't accept plastic.
