Several years ago we attempted to convince Pence to run for the Presidency, but he emphatically declined.
Last night I read that because votes have already been cast in the election, there can be no change to the candidates on the ballot in some states. So even if Trump became incapacitated he'd still be the candidate. I "assume" in that event, Pence would become president by default.
It doesn't work like that. A candidate must be chosen through party procedure. Pence might easily get the candidacy but he'd have to do it through the GOP.
My vote is in. I don't know when they'll count it. I'm not sure how to find out if it has been counted. I'll find out. I'm in the middle of composing a long letter to the Green Party, to which I belong, trying to explain why I cannot vote for them this election or support them financially. My reasons are complex but the thrust is that we can't tackle climate change while the country is fragmenting politically and the economy is suffering. I'm also raising the issues of the Green position on illegal immigration and partial surrender of sovereignty to invoke international solutions to climate change. No one there will read it or care about my opinions. I'm writing it to clarify my own thoughts for myself.
