Internet, TV, Books, Video Games, Pet, Alcohol, Caffeine, Junk Food Internet The 2nd one is tough: Books vs, Alcohol. I drink sparingly and only on Sat. & Sun. eves. Love Books though. Alcohol breaks up the week nicely so that it's not the same old thing 7 days a week. Yeah, I'll stick with the booze.
I can rule out video games, alcohol, junk food, caffeine, and books. I am too slow a reader to have patience for books now. You didn't mention phones. I would love to give up all types of phones, if there were some other way to call 911 and all appointments, inquiries, etc could be done on the internet. By pet, do you mean give up ever having another pet? I have never chosen to have a dog, and my cats always just showed up at the door. I guess that leaves the internet and TV.
Good points, Nancy. I would say keep current pet with whom you've become attached and not be "charged" with one of the two choices. But no new pet or else be "charged." Also agree re: phones.
Books, and my Chiweenie, Max. FWIW, I blame the internet, to an extent, for the great divisiveness we now have on this planet. That divisiveness existed before, sure, but now it is far ranging, as never before.
My pets are family and I would never get rid of either of them. Given that Bubba might outlive me, I don't think I'll have another pet, however. Setting them aside, I'd have to pick books and the Internet since I could probably get by with decaffeinated coffee.
All cell phones I have had recently will call 911 even if you don't pay for the service. According to my newest phone, 911 service , here at least, is 2G and is the only 2G service supported.
I was just thinking about this. If I just went back 20 years ago, I could do without everything on the list except pets and books. My original thoughts were electricity and natural gas, but those weren't on your list. Doing without alcohol and caffeine would be tough for a while, but not necessary.
Well, if I have internet then I also have TV, books, and games if I choose. I couldn't give up caffeine. We no longer have a pet, but if my little dog was still alive I'd take him over all the rest.
