I have posted pictures of our yucca plant in some of the gardening or yard threads, but had no clue that it might be edible. The Yucca plant is totally different from the yuca plant, which is also called cassava .
Since our plant started blossoming, we have had people asking if we wanted to sell some of the flowers, or just asking us if they could pick some.
We had no idea what they were doing with them, except one person told Bobby that they ate the flowers.
Today, more people came by and BObby cut down the last stalk of yucca flowers. When Bobby asked how they eat them, he was told they put them in scrambled eggs, and foods like that.

So , I looked on youtube and there are a bunch of recipes about eating yucca flowers. Here is one, in case you have never seen a yucca before.

I had no idea. I took a botany class years ago and we visited a botanical garden, and the guide plucked some nasturtium blossoms for use to eat. They tasted like flowers.

I once had a fight with a yucca and the yucca won temporarily until I got an axe and shovel out and destroyed it.

When you eat a yucca blossom, do you gag and go "yucha"?

Last year we had one full stem and this year we had two so I’m fairly anxious for next year’s crop and to taste for myself what all the hubbub is about. Thus far, it has only been the local Latino’s who have asked for the flowers and they’ve even asked if they could buy them so they must be pretty tasty in some dishes.
