Okay, so it really isn't news any longer. The Republican candidate, Karen Handel won and it goes without saying that Ossoff, the Democrat....lost in the Ga. special election. I am not amazed by how much money and effort the democratic party put into the special election but what I am interested in is the excuses that they are coming up with for the loss. The top excuse so far is, wait for it, .........the weather. Yup, I guess it rained so the democratic voters decided not get wet and that's how they lost the election. That means (to the leftists) that republicans are too dumb to come out of the rain, hence, while getting super soaked they voted en masse. I have another spin on it though. For a change, the democratic party is recognizing God. Since rain is an act of God (by a reasonable definition) then they indirectly blame God for their loss. But, on the other hand, the intermixing of church and state in the political arena is illegal so then they would be saying that God broke our silly laws by allowing it to rain thereby keeping their "gotta keep dry except for my eyes" voters from coming out of their safe zones or homes to vote. Yup, it rained......
Time Magazine said that Republican win in Georgia was a sign of bad times coming for the Republicans in 2018. They implied that the GOP had spent an immense amount of money on the race and should have won by a much larger margin. I don't think there was any mention of the Democrats having invested in it. They just hoped, you know, that people would do the right thing.
Huh? All the reports I have read and heard thus far said that the dems spent a ton and their ground game was pretty hefty to boot. Between the two parties they set a record on their mutual spending spree. The link I provided is about 2 weeks old but the guy on the radio this morning was talking about the Democrat spending to be well over 30 million clams.................. http://www.npr.org/2017/06/06/53178...-georgias-special-election-to-fill-house-seat
Democrats outspend Republicans in most expense congressional race ever. In the 3 previous special elections, dems while failing, outdid Clinton's numbers in November. As the 6th district was a close race in November, the presumption was that the dems could win. Therefore it was an all out effort. The fault with the logic was in November, many republicans crossed over and voted for Clinton... presumably as the lesser of two evils. Looking at the vote patterns, those republicans didn't bother to vote yesterday, as the core democrat numbers were basically the same yesterday and in November. Congressional dem candidate vote in November was 124,917 and yesterday was 124,893. Republican congressional candidate in November garned 201,088 and yesterday... 134,595. The democrats expected the republicans to give them the margin of victory, by not showing up. A very bad strategy, imo... and I say that as a life long democrat.
Apparently Pelosi is getting a lot of the blame for the loss. I still cannot figure out how she has stayed in power for as long as she has. There HAS to be some cash floating around from pocket to pocket because the only other way I can think of is that she's garnering some kind of sympathy vote.
She was a liberal activist in a very liberal district, then becoming a liberal activist in a liberal state. There is lot of money in her district and her state (Silicon Valley, Hollywood, Banking) and she spent time in charge of the State's DNC finance arm and at the national level. That was all before she actually ran for office. Until the money turns its back on her, she will continue on.
