So pretty!! @Maryt Hope. Good morning, hot today...in the 100's for a high. Will go out for a walk around 7:00 am and after that...who knows! Have a great day.
They are coming out here in north Alabama, too. I had never even heard of a crape myrtle until we moved out here from Idaho. They looked like lilacs to me at first; but they come in so many different colors, and bloom all summer long, unlike the lilac , which only lasts a week or two, it seems like. It is amazing the different shapes that they come in also. When you prune them to be bushy, then they actually look almost like a lilac bush, and when you trim the lower limbs and let them grow into a tree, then they look like a tree and not like a bush at all.
Hi everyone, I am a bit out of it, having not adjusted to be being back in the UK after 2 months away, but I also visited my brother Geoff who is due to have his operation for kidney cancer next Thursday, sadly though it hasn't spread as far as they can tell, it has attached itself to the nearby aorta, which involves a very difficult operation to remove it. The surgeon did warn that it's really major surgery, and he may not survive the trauma............. though Geoff has adjusted to this possibility, Anita his wife is in a terrible very tearful state and completely exhausted. I am reminded of the fragility of life yet again, I just pray that Geoff will make it through the op and get back to his old self as much as is possible........ I will be back soon.... Take care and enjoy your weekend
Good morning everyone! Still very hot here, 103....just got back from my walk with Pickles, left around 6:30 am and already too hot. Took a pic while Pickles was smelling some flowers. Right around the corner is home! Tomorrow I'll have to go out earlier!
Thanks @Nancy Hart! Yes, we have a mixture of pine trees and palm trees in the neighborhood besides others. Not as many palms here as in Florida but enough.
Hi everyone, I have sort of adjusted to being back home in the UK, it took a few days to settle in and we are having a heatwave which I am not good with these days, at least we don't get the very high temps that some of you get, it's in the 80s here but of course we don't have any aircon to cool us down. Hope your Sunday is going well.. A few photos of part of the rear garden/yard, Cathy has been busy tidying it up while I was away..
Temps in the 60s F. and the sun has come out. Yesterday we said farewell to son #3 and his fiancée (they got engaged while here) as they headed back to Nebraska. A big party at son #4's house with all the family in Alaska. We also had a Great Horned Owl kill a duck in our backyard yesterday. We have visitors here from Lower 48 and they were thrilled to see Alaska wildlife. There was also a moose in the lake at the time--a 2-for-1 special! Sorry if nature upsets anyone.
