Okay, experiment time! I bought turkey sausages this morning... same number of calories that my dogs have! And fresh bakery rolls. I am going to have a Columbia dog for supper! That would be ketchup, mustard, mayo, crushed pineapple, and crushed potato chips (sans quail egg, of course... ick!)

I'm either brave or daft (no, don't start taking bets on that one! hehe) but I figure if @Yvonne Smith can put soap in her mouth, I can have a weird hot dog. :p Oh wait, I think @Patsy Faye already did call me daft a few days ago, so that wouldn't be a very fair bet anyhow!

Take off the pineapple and it doesn't sound too bad.

:D Yeah, that's the part I'm a tad worried about, Chrissy!

Well, good luck! I love pineapple but on its own. Don't even like it on pizza.

Agreed. I like pineapple too, but putting it on a hot dog (or a pizza) is just wrong.

That's what makes it an adventure! :D I balked at putting cole slaw on a bbq pork sandwich the first time, too (in the south where it's very popular) but now I won't buy one without it anywhere south of the Mason-Dixon. I'm using the crushed pineapple, not chunks... and I think the sweetness will go nicely with the ketchup. Actually, I do believe I've seen bbq sauce recipes that use pineapple and pineapple juice, so I'll bet this is trying to mimic that. I think I'll like it... although I really don't like mustard.

Supper's over. I'm alive! :D It was.... really good. The crushed pineapple with the ketchup worked. The mayo added a nice layer. The crushed chips were interesting, but an intriguing addition. The only thing I'd change if I'd do it again... I *really* dislike mustard, so I'd skip it. I just had a little on, but I could tell.

Oh, I had a bonus, too... I didn't realize they were turkey cheddar, so when I bit into it, cheese oozed out. Yep, quite enjoyable! I'll be doing another one in a few days, the Sonora.... bacon, relish (sweet homemade pepper relish), mayo, tomatoes, onion, and avocado chunks with the same rolls and turkey cheddar brats.

With a good quality hot dog (like all beef Oscar Meyer) I prefer them plain, well done, on a toasted bun.

Second choice, the Dodger Dog - just ketchup, mustard, onions, & relish.

Back in the 70s I worked in DC. There was a hot dog place called "Best of the Wurst" I would go to for lunch. Nuthin' but high-quality hot dogs. I don't recall there being anything too exotic or off-the-wall there.

There were also Sabrett carts around. I recall being in line at 7AM for the King Tut exhibit, and there was a Sabrett cart set up. Yeh, I had two for breakfast. Chili dogs with onions.

I'll admit to loving hot dogs, too. I love all kinds; chili with onions, Chicago style, and the southern "slaw dog." (The slaw dog is a wiener cooked in a deep fryer, placed in a toasted bun, and topped with coleslaw... heaven. :D)

If available, I like mine with:
    -mustard
    -onions
    -cheese
    -chili
    -sauerkraut

I recall the first time I made one with all those topping just because they were available, and now a hot dog missing any of those feels "incomplete."

One of these days I'm going to have to try one of those southern ones with the coleslaw. I don't know. I like hot dogs on occasion and I like slaw but I've never considered putting them together. They do it for a barbeque sandwich to right? I got livin to do!:)

I've never had a fish taco in my life either. I've lived a sheltered life I think. My daughter used to talk about eating them though.
