A little Disco flash of the pass reminds me of one of my best friends who passed last year ,we took Disco lessons at local high school gymnasium=, it was fun and I miss her alot.
A Horse with No Name - America (1972) "Despite being banned by some U.S. radio stations because of supposed drug references to heroin use, the song reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100."
Dewey Bunnell (the composer) denies it. He explained that "A Horse with No Name" was "a metaphor for a vehicle to get away from life's confusion into a quiet, peaceful place".
Back in the 70s I worked with a guy who knew all sorts of weird facts about lyrics ("Ticket to Ride" by the Beatles was about a pregnant girlfriend..."Ride" was an unwed mother's home.) This was in the days well before the internet. I never thought to ask him what his source was for this kind of stuff. I recently read about "Saved by Zero" by the Fixx. Apparently one of the guys was having a life crisis and he turned to Buddhism. The concept of being the most spiritually free when you have nothing is what rescued him, so he wrote the song. How would your casual listener have any idea..especially since LPs went away and you can no longer read this stuff on the covers. And how many false interpretations get traction?
