Just checking in after a "vacation" from here. And see about your sister's knee infection, I spent 4.5 months in hospital/rehabs (3) due to staph infection knee from an injection to the knee. The team of docs at UCLA did NOT do an MRI for 2.5 months and I was helpless and did not walk and on pain drugs all that time. It was horrid and they finally found the infection thru an MRI. This is probably all a result of complications from hip replacement in 2010, every part of my right side was affected including knee. I was on abx IV's for 2.5 months when the infection was finally found.

I have a problem knee but WILL NOT do anymore surgeries if I can do anything about that.

I wish you best with your cancer issue. I had a friend many yrs ago who just stuffed her bra, I think she had one breast removed due to cancer.

I've been taking antioxidants for 25 yrs and count on them to prevent cancer(s) in my body...love love love holistic/alternative medicine. Drop of Iodine daily is one of them to keep my breasts healthy. Take care.

Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't been able to keep this tread updated as often as I had hoped I would be able to do. Sometimes I feel like talking about what I'm going through and other times I just don't even want to think about it...so I don't. :)

Anyway the latest news is that this past Thursday I went to see my Oncologist and I went all by myself. I was tired of feeling anxiety even at the word Oncologist being spoken out loud. So I prayed that God would help me see Dr. Thomas just as a young Doctor who was trying to help me...and to give me the strength and courage to just tell her that I was only going to do the things I felt at peace doing. This was my first visit after my mastectomy and I knew in my heart that she was going to try to convince me that I needed chemo, radiation,...the whole nine yards! But that is just not an option for me and never will be. Up until the morning I went to see her I still did not know if I would be trying the Hormone Inhibitor pill or not, but early on Thursday morning God gave me the okay to try that and He promised me He would take care of the side effects. So I told God if this was His will for me then this would be what Dr. Thomas would bring up first too.

When she came into the exam room she hugged me and said: "So you had your surgery." I said yes. Then she scooted her stool closer to me and in a very soft voice she asked me why I didn't have my lymph nodes removed. I told her that I could not live with lymphedema and cancer. She then said but you understand there is cancer in some lymph nodes and I told her yes that I understood that but I felt God had said I was to take the breast with the tumor off and He would take care of those lymph nodes. I could tell she might not agree with my decision but that she believed me. So the next words out of her mouth were: "So are you ready to start on your Hormone Inhibitor?" And I said: " Yes, I am." "God has given me the okay for this and He says He will take care of the side effects!"

Today is my third day on them and I haven't had any side effects. And my faith tells me that even if I should experience any God has this taken care of. All through my journey with breast cancer He has been right here with me and I know that no matter what happens He will never leave or forsake me.

When it is time I will go to live with Him and my Savior Jesus. But only my Heavenly Father knows when that time is and as for me I am just living my life the best I can until that time comes. I still have no pain....thank you Jesus! The only thing I have experienced throughout this journey is more tiredness than usual and I can even take a nap sometimes now. :)

I haven't even gone to buy my prosthesis yet because I made one out of a silky camisole I had and use it in my sports bras. It is so comfortable and makes me look so normal chested that I see no reason to go buy anything else at this time. :)

We had a nice Thanksgiving at my youngest daughter's home and will have Christmas at my oldest daughter's (unless that changes). I have a good life with so many blessings and I'm going to keep enjoying every day that God blesses me with.

God bless all of you too. IMG_20191128_105228.jpg

Nice to see you here @Babs Hunt .

I googled the hormone inhibitor pill you are taking and it looks like an excellent choice! I don’t know much about any of these meds but I got a good feeling about the one you are taking!

Hope to see you on here more often since I’m slowly returning. :)

Hello everyone! I've been on my Hormone Inhibitor for over 3 weeks now and I'm not having any problems with it at all. Praise God! I feel that it is helping too. The cancer I was diagnosed with this past March is 99 per cent estrogen fed. The hormone inhibitor I take stops the cancer cells from being able to feed on any estrogen in my body. It is a very tiny pill that I take every morning and so far it seems to be doing it's job without giving me a lot of side effects. I am very thankful for this. Today my youngest daughter is taking me to my first appointment with my Endocrinologist so we can find out why my parathyroid is making my blood calcium high. We have to find the reason this is happening because if my blood calcium stays high it will leach to much calcium out of my bones and make them brittle and easy to break. I hope by the time I leave his Office we will know what the problem is and be able to take care of it without to much difficulty. Anyway I am living one day at a time and have such peace since removing my cancer filled breast.

@Babs Hunt -- I just want to say that I admire your positive attitude and I'm glad you are doing well with treatment. Also, I "like" your posts to say that I am reading and keeping up with you, though I don't "like" that you are having to go through this. :(

Yes I am still around and doing just fine. Just busy living my life and enjoying my family. My brother and his wife came down from their home in Oregon and surprised me with a visit. I was still in my pajamas when they came so I just stayed in them and had a wonderful visit with them. received_2536887036583246.jpeg received_578839192709037.jpeg My Honey even go home from work in time to have a nice visit with them too. received_333052797627119.jpeg If you look closely you can see a lot of silver in my hair...no more coloring it for me. I'm free of thinking I have to do things now and doing the things I really want to do instead . My heavenly Father is still taking wonderful care of me on this journey we're on together. I have decided to stop seeing all the Doctors that have been on my breast cancer team and will do no more scans, etc. I will still take the hormone inhibitor because it really doesn't give me any side effects to speak of. I still have no pain and am able to still do everything although I have less energy so I have to pace myself sometimes. I feel so blessed ❤️ and that's because I am! I hope all of you are feeling blessed these days too.
