Amazon seems to be moving orders along a little more quickly now. I had a few that had been stalled, all of which have now been shipped. For the first time, though, I have an ordered marked "Arriving Sunday." Now, I don't know if it will actually be delivered on Sunday, as I have never gotten a delivery on Sunday before but I did note that one package that I received from Amazon late last week arrived via a delivery company other than UPS, FedEx, or the post office. I forget what it was, but it was a delivery company I had never heard of, so I guess, besides doing its own deliveries in some areas, they are contracting with other companies as well.
We have received Amazon orders on Sundays, when they come from USPS. Maybe the Fed-X ones, too; but not from UPS, if I remember right. Amazon has a lot more warehouses now, so we get things from places closer to us sometimes. Our orders seem to be coming through just fine, too. Bobby has ordered things like little parts for the rototiller and the weed eater and those came just fine; so it is not just necessities that they are shipping .
I just got a new power lift recliner for my wife from Amazon. It came via UPS. I've never received an order this early in the day from UPS. I'm very disappointed because UPS didn't send mew the email that allows you to watch the truck making deliveries. They say they sent email at 10am but I was on my computer until 10:30 and no notice. Needless to say 100 lbs is a little heavy for me to be lugging.
Most of what I order comes in three or four days, pretty much the same as before this insanity began.
I ordered soup weeks ago and it still has not arrived. Since it comes from another vendor, Amazon Prime doesn't deal with it. I am furious.
When you ordered it, how long did it say that it would take for it to be delivered, @Lois Winters ? We usually only order items that come with Prime free shipping, but have occasionally ordered something that was not Prime, but had free shipping. Those items usually seemed to be shipped from china and took up to a month to arrive sometimes. Another possibility is that there have been a lot of orders for the same kind of soup as you ordered, and it was out of stock temporarily. When I was going to order dog food, the kind that I usually get was out of stock for several weeks, so I ended up ordering a different flavor, but the same brand, which came right away. I think that when you are dealing with a company that is just selling through Amazon, you do not get the same quality of customer service as when ordering from Amazon itself. I always try to look at the rating of a company before ordering, too.
I don't think they're very good when it comes to updating their inventory lists because every time I have ordered something that said, "only three remaining" or whatever number you might want to fit into it, it took a long time just to be shipped, and once my money was just refunded or not charged at all, I forget which, so there obviously wasn't any remaining by the time my order was processed.
I've ordered things on Amazon that got to us faster than the original ship date. We were surprised, but it was nice to get the item early. The last item we ordered, and got it by our door with a picture of it sitting there, we were very surprised about. Why? Because we now have a UPS package area (looks like small/large P.O. Boxes) outside the office. When delivered there, we get a Delivery Number Code on our iPhone and scan that code into a scanner located in the package area. That will automatically unlock the door of the number code. That didn't happen on our last UPS delivery. Guess the driver didn't get the Memo about where to leave all packages. And, btw, the weather was fine the evening he left the box by our door.
Well, our post office is at it again ! I am SO not happy with the post office ! Over a week ago, I ordered a set of small baking pans that would fit in the little toaster oven, and a sampler of different sea salts. By last weekend , it was in Huntsville, and we could have had it Sunday, but didn’t. Since Monday was a holiday, no deliveries then, either; but by Tuesday ,we fully expected to receive our packages. Bobby had ordered several things about the same time as i ordered mine, so they both arrived in Huntsville at the same time, together, almost $100 worth of items. Zip.....Nada.....Nothing. Wednesday came, still no packages, and Bobby talked with the mailman lady. She said she had no idea but would check when she got back to the main post office. Today, now Thursday..... a different mailman, and she just zoomed right on by , after dropping off some junk mail in the mailbox; so still no packages. Amazon had by now given us the notice that we could ask for a refund , if we didn’t have them by yesterday; so this morning, I was on the phone with customer service, and explained exactly what was happening with our Amazon deliveries and our post office branch. She gave us a total refund in a gift card, and said that when/if the items come, we just keep them; and won’t be charged for anything. NICE ! Now, we have almost $100 gift card, and hopefully, (eventually) the long lost packages will make it from the post office to our house.
We ordered two kitchen wildlife rugs in early March and kept getting notices "they are on their way". I contacted the seller and he told me the same thing, "they are on their way". Nothing! In July, I finally requested, and got a refund, that showed up on our Amazon Credit Card. Two weeks after getting the refund, the rugs showed up! I immediately contacted the seller to take the money off of our card again and he told me "I've already been paid". Come to find out, Amazon is the one that refunded our money and the seller still got paid. Little shocking, but we said to each other, "ok, fine".
That stinks. Sometime ago I signed up for "Informed Delivery Digest" from the post office. Apparently the mail gets scanned as part of the automated sorting process, so I get photos of every piece of mail that is out for delivery that day. I also get advanced notification of packages in the pipeline for delivery (Shipper Name + Tracking Details), as well as what's out for delivery that day. You can get an email (and a text) when a package is delivered to your mailbox. I believe you can also manage delivery dates & other details on the packages, but I've never had a need to change anything. Here's where you can sign up. I will say that a few months ago there was a run of delayed deliveries where the letters reported for delivery today were delivered tomorrow. But that was a short-lived blip. I'm happy with the USPS and UPS service I get here in the sticks. Amazon has been supporting some startup delivery companies, and my latest Walmart package was delivered by one of them (Lasership.) They don't all get stellar reviews on the web. It's almost amateur hour, with some people saying that the drivers knock off when they feel like it, taking undelivered packages back with them to deliver "some other day." One customer tracked the driver down when he knocked off early and demanded his package, which was reluctantly handed over. edit to add: I bought a set of those small trays and perforated broiler pans for my small Black & Decker a while ago. It's a worthwhile investment. I got a lot of use out of them.
