From what I remember, and looked up online, when Obama done a stimulus in 2008 for all taxpayers. We remember getting a check in the mail, when we lived in North Carolina. Will just have to wait to find out who will get this, but if Baby Boomers and earlier don't get one, there will be some backlash from that. "Stimulating the economy" is for everyone. At least that's how I think.
There were tax rebates for some low-income taxpayers but most of his stimulus went to the banks and to all sorts of fake businesses operated by friends of the Democrat Party, most of which went belly-up right after the free money ran out.
So far, more people have died in Pokémon accidents in the United States than from the COVID-19 virus.

Texas has closed its doors to almost everything. Stock market is killing its also. Gonna be a long year- provided your still alive
Canada and the US have mutually agreed to ban all but essential travel back and forth. As for how many people have died, I guess it doesn't matter unless it's you or someone you love. The object of all the closings and travel bans is to prevent as many people as possible from dying. The fewer people who have it, the fewer people who will die.
Some stores are having special shopping hours for seniors only. Dollar General's is 8 to 9 AM. Our local grocery chain is 7 to 9 AM every Tuesday, their senior discount day.
I think folks are stockpiling certain grocery items, like meat, because many people don't do "take-out". They like getting together with friends and/or family in a restaurant. "Take-Out" isn't nearly as popular as "eating in" is. Hamburger is a big item here that is empty from shelves. Still quite a bit of turkey and "plant based" meat left, but not everyone likes either of those...…….we don't. A week or so ago, we bought a box of spaghetti and jar of sauce and then found out everyone was out of hamburger.
Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel. Unless it's chicken, if I can't eat it in the dining area, I'd just as soon cook it myself at home. In an attempt to stay in business, some restaurants that didn't use to deliver are doing that, even a couple of restaurants here in Millinocket. According to my wife, the meat department at Hannaford hasn't been as well-stocked as usual but she's had no problem finding meat, although it might mean buying the more expensive stuff.
This is very disturbing. This week our government announced no more cruise ships will be permitted to dock at Australian ports for the foreseeable future. The ban was to come into place this Sunday (tomorrow) Australian time. Two days ago the Ruby Princess embarked 2700 passengers in Sydney with the knowledge that 4 passengers and I crew had tested positive for COVID -19. Some 83% of the passengers .. either Australian (63%) or American (20%) are now in various parts of Sydney or further afield oblivious that they may have become infected. Our State Government medical authorities are now frantically trying to locate these passengers. Up until today Australia has only five COVID -19 fatalities and some 950 cases. This may be the ticking bomb that all Australia has been dreading.
I’m shaking my head at this one @Craig Swanson I heard it on TV and radio ....WHAT!, how stupid is that releasing possibly infected people into the community ....Dah ..and about 2.700 at that it’s almost like they said get off quick so we can get outta here
It defies logic @Milla Jonas. The ships's owners will pay dearly for this. I can see a class action down the track.. specially if any of the released passengers die. Carnival Corporation based in America are the owners.
@Craig Swanson, the problem with the cruise ship is similar to what President Trump was upset about early on when someone decided, on his own, to take Americans off the ship where they were in quarantine, flying them back to the United States, mixing those who were symptomatic with those who were not. It was against the established policy and resulted in the first people who tested positive with it here.
