Oh girl.............I sure wish you and I lived closer!!! I love to fish. Salt water, fresh water, brackish water.....it's all good.
Wow, @Ken N Louis , that's a nice catch! Are they channel cat? That's what they look like. If they are, them's some good eatin'.
Guess the odd one here I take others fishing several times a week every week, all we fish for is striped bass, never blacks, just hybrid stripers and stripers locally sometimes 4 trips a week all year long.
Just got in from today's trip with 3 guests, 200+ fish day only 6 what I call good fish we went on an early am trip (pm much better) due to the heat here am was nice, taking tomorrow off. Have 2 days already booked for next week. Rarely ever fish weekends as to many idiots out on lake.
@Tex Dennis , we call them rockfish here. They have something in their head that looks like little rocks. I have caught some nice ones but not nothing like as big as those. @Ken N Louis , I've never caught a blue cat. I don't think we have then here. But we do have crappie. They are a good eatin' fish. I really enjoy catching them.
Down here, in Texas, the ones with rocks are called drum.. . . Freshwater drum are silver-gray in with a down facing mouth. They are deep bodied with a round tail. Except for color, they resemble the red drum. The fish is deep-bodied and equipped with a long dorsal fin divided into two sections. The dorsal fin usually has 10 spines and 29-32 rays. Freshwater drum are silvery in color and lack the distinctive tail fin spot of red drum. Drum is endemic to North America and one of the wider ranging species. They have a swim bladder which is able to produce sound and its use is thought to have to do with spawning. The drum's otoliths are large and have been used for jewelry and luck charms. ..
I'm more of an arm chair fisher woman now days...but I have always loved to fish...and have always cleaned and eaten what I catch too.
