Well, it looks like most of have a plan for the holiday weekend. I'm with Diane when it comes to holiday traffic. I'll be home by noon on Saturday, and I'll not be leaving until most are back to work on Monday. Tuesday, I'll probably go for a good long day trip to North Texas to see the tail end of spring.
I constant companion, Izzy Royal, is a great one for long drives, especially if I' mindful of letting him roam around a bit out in the fields.
He is the little one. He just got a lion's cut for the summer, and I think he is embarrassed by his first short hair cut. That is Reba licking her chops, and she is the gentlest dog I've ever seen.

You have some beautiful pups! Izzy Royal looks pretty tough for her size!

Some of my neighbors had a shock when they went out today and found their road blocked. We had severe weather come through and knock several trees down. I think for the most part, they've been taken care of by now, because there's a big barbecue at the beach, and everyone must be able to drive the roads ;). I love storms, and usually sleep best during them, but the kitties were a little alarmed this morning because the winds were pretty high, and blowing things around, so I didn't get much sleep.

@Ina I. Wonder I hope the dam/flooding issue isn't near you. That sounds like a nice drive, just be sure to check the weather first, they've been having lots of severe weather up North, as well.

@Diane Lane, I thought I was the only person that loved storms, and slept well in them. In my youth I was really dumb, and I was known to go out and play in hurricanes. Of course my family thought I was a few drops shy of a storm myself. But it is amazing to watch storms come from the sea. The power that is generated is invigorating.

Now I keep my buns in the house, or on the porch.

@Richard Paradon, Izzy Royal is a nine pound male of three next month. Being a male, he is very concious of his form. He also thinks he can fight and win in his fights with my big brown dog, Boo, who is 10 times Izzy's size. I've had to pull him out of Boo's mouth several times.

Izzy is a emotional support service dog that is half way through his training. My doctor thought it was a good idea, and she was right. We both have to go through the training.

Upon meeting a person, the red pit bull will roll over and beg for tummy rubs. I call her Reba after the country singer for the obvious reason. And of course I can't forget my beautiful 13 y/o golden retriever. They love me back very well.

I have fond memories of sitting on the porch (literally, not in a chair), with my back to the house when I was young, with rain falling in a curtain around me, watching and listening to the storms. I could feel the vibrations from the floor and side of the house, it was thrilling.

Today is the first day that it wasn't so cold in the morning. Our campground is full this weekend but some folks are getting ready to leave for their trips home. It was a fun weekend as the owner put on a welcome campers pancake breakfast with pancakes, sausage, fruit, and bacon. It was quite cold, so the meals were hot and the coffee flowed. Good times, good people.

That sounds like a really nice weekend, Dave! The weather's moving back in here, but it's worse north of here, tornado watch again. Hopefully nothing too severe, but a good reminder to wrap up the weekend and get ready for work tomorrow, for a lot of folks.

It would be hard to look at that and not smile! :D As far as I can tell, there are no trees on the house, no holes in the roof, and no flooding, and I just ate breakfast, so it's going to be a good day.

I also love watching the storms come in from the ocean. The only problem is that when the rain starts to hit the tile roofs i immediately want to sleep and so I lounge out on the bed and get into rem very quick. But then, of course, the lightning starts and I do a 2 or 3 foot horizontal full body jump!

Richard. Speaking of lightning, we had a bolt strike a nearby tree and burnt out our phone and TV. This was last summer and a little to close for comfort.

I've been planning to drive to the village in which my grandparents lived. I still have a few acquaintances there from when my grandparents were still alive, so I figured I'd go and relive some of the good ol' days. I can't wait to meet them again and see how they are holding out. :)

@John Donovan That sounds like a nice trip, I hope you come back and share how it went.

The rain finally stopped here, and they're predicting a dry week, or at least the first part of it. I took the opportunity to get out of the house and went to the trails this morning. It was peaceful, and there were more egrets out than I've seen in quite a while. The scent of the honeysuckles was intoxicating, and I love listening to the cardinals singing as I walk the trails.

I submitted a post in the off-topic section. All in all, it was a fantastic experience, and I would advise anyone to do something like this, it really helps cheer your life a bit.
