No I'm not. I wish I had more time to clean but working full time it's not a priority. Also we had to clean so much as a kid, I have no interest in it.
I have to admit I'm a "Neatnick". OCD is what I call it. Luckily I live alone now so I am not bothering other people with my compulsion. If it's things that have to be done eventually then I feel good when I check it off my list. I don't mind going into other people's homes who are not neatnicsk. It's there home and I do not judge them. I also have a compulsion with numbers, especially even numbers.
I very much enjoy having my office clean, and with everything in order. You wouldn't know that from looking at it because it rarely is that way. Each day, I have more things on my mental list of things to do than I am able or willing to do, spending an hour or two straightening up my office isn't high on the list until it gets really, really bad. For one thing, my two cats spend most of their day in my office, knocking things off the desk, and even pulling things out of drawers when they can manage to open them. Actually, that would be Ella since Cutie doesn't do so much of that anymore, although she still sometimes has trouble walking past something on my desk that could easily be on the floor without pushing it off. Accidentally, of course.
Opposite to neatnik ... altho' most things do have their regular place, if it's not where it should be, then it;s on the kitchen table (with all the other stuff that's just put there for now and I'll fix it later) there's always dog/cat hair floating around and if the few visitors I get don't like it ... then don't come back, I've never been houseproud but am fussy about the stove /loo ...
If I know company is coming I will have everything in order by the time they get here. But my Honey and I by ourselves live in a home that is lived and is sometimes neat and sometimes kind of messy.
I am blessed with a Honey who maintains the yard and also does not hesitate to help maintain the inside of our home too. We make a good team and I am just as willing to help him keep up the outdoors too.
A good housekeeping hint: keep your Vacuum cleaner in the room. If you have a visitor, they will assume that you are in the process of cleaning.
Yes, I'm a Neatnick, but not an arrogant, accusatory one, like Felix Ungar of "The Odd Couple". Many times when I see Felix scolding Oscar Madison, I would just love to see Oscar give him a Knuckle Sandwich! Oscar my be a slob, but he's a likeable one! Hal
