Although the DNA tests have not come back to verify identity for sure, it seems very likely that the body is probably that of Kim Wall, a well-known Swedish journalist.
Early in August, she had decided to interview Peter Madsen, who is an inventor of rockets and submarines, and is from Denmark.
They went out on his submarine on the evening of August 10th, and Ms. Wall was never seen again after that.
The next day, the submarine sank, and Madsen was able to get out of the submarine and was rescued. When asked about the missing journalist, he first indicated that he had dropped her off the evening before in Copenhagen; but later changed his story to say that there and been some kind of an accident and she died, and he buried her at sea.
At that point, he was charged with manslaughter, so he would have had to been involved in whatever accident happened, enough that they felt he was responsible for it.
Now, a torso with head, arms, and legs removed had been found, washed up on a nearby beach, and police believe that this is the body of Kim Wall.
This seems like a terrible thing to have happen to her, but the friends of Peter Madsen say that he is eccentric, but in no way dangerous, and they do not think that he could have possibly killed the journalist.
I am thinking that there will be a lot more coming out of this story as it unfolds.

If he cut off her head, arms and legs, I'd say the was very much involved.
It will be interesting to see how this evolves.

The latest thing that I read today is that the body has been identified as being Kim Wall, and also the body was weighted down to keep it from floating to the surface.
Since he has admitted already that she died while on the submarine, it would be pretty hard for him to deny that he also chopped her into pieces and dumped her overboard, his version of "burial at sea".
Even if she did die accidentally, he has to be guilty of hiding the death and mutilating the body, and then sinking his submarine to hide any evidence.
