Daisy was a dachshund lady who, while jumping from the couch in order to follow her mistress leaving the room, pushed over a burning candle and, thus, set fire to the whole house. Not my Sari, though. Heard that on the radio.:p

    How about Half Cocked

As a snotty young lad always used the term to refer to a moron.

Neither did Julia Roberts when talking to Hugh Grant. ( The first 40 seconds of the video will do.) He said "Whoops a daisies" though. Didn't he? Several variants possible.

Here, "half cocked" means unprepared or doing something impulsively.

My, my, I don't know British slang. Some, maybe most would throw me for a loop. I'm still tying to shake some of the Texas usage in my writing, as in I'm fixing to go shopping.

There was a Clip in Sharpe(set in 1813) that explained it.

You load your Musket wrongly and fire you then get powder burns on your face.

Do you Brits use the term "grykes" often? I ran across it in reference to Yorkshire and it refers to spaces between limestone "clints". A new word to me.

No we don't, They might do it in Yorkshire but no where else.

Did a google search on the term and think the rest of the UK would just call them "Fat Slobs"

    https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=gryke

Was not going to mention this but the word Clint refers to a girls sexual organ as well also known as a clit
