Always liked him as an actor. Believable, strong, righteous, on the side of good. He caught lots of flak as a staunch supporter of NRA from the folks who want no one to own firearms. A few neighbors of mine labeled him "Charlatan Heston". I thought that was mighty indecent. What are your feelings? Frank
yes he died...but look at Franks ' accidental spelling of his name ''it should be Charlton... Charleston is a dance...
Charlton Heston was always one of my favorite actors, and i remember seeing him in a lot of movies when i was growing up, and as a young adult. Probably the most iconic movie that he played in, along with Yul Brynner (another great favorite of mine), was The Ten Commandments, which was one of the most amazing movies of its time.
@Holly Saunders Do they play Blackjack in UK? You "doubled down" as a truly dedicated player would........ Frank
@Holly Saunders Ah, Ha! Now, curiosity stroked, do you play, frequent casinos? I would love to learn more about UK Blackjack rules, if possible. I think I never revealed here, or elsewhere, that I have made a more or less lifetime commitment to the game. 'Way back when even the casinos had no clue about why their BJ tables were losing monery, I was busy cashing in whenever possible. The history of all this is exquisite, especially when revealed to those unaware of it. Shall I go on with it, do you wish I may.....boring in some respects, highly exciting in others. As a young and easily excited man, newly married to the most statuesque and enticing young woman I ever imagined, I believed heaven on earth was a possibility. One trip from Chicago to Vegas had me walking about the downtown area, looking in the store windows. Bookstore. Displayed: "Beat the Dealer", by Edward O Thorpe. I bought it, took it home to Chicago, studied it carefully, then had my wife deal to me as though she were the "house". Within weeks, I was easily able to clean out all the chips in our tray. It was THEN we went to Vegas to PLAY! This was in about 1966. Sue played too, but did not bother to "count" cards as I did. Nonetheless, she rarely lost money. Rumors surfaced that the casinos, faced with previously unheard-of Blackjack losses, might remove the game altogether. The "brains" behind casino gambling prevailed somehow. The basic rules adhered to previously, were gradually changed: no double-down allowed after pair-splitting; only one card dealt per Ace when Aces were split; doubling down allowed ONLY on 10 or 11, some went so far as to ban SOFT DOUBLING. These rules changes forever prevented the "card-counters" from consistently winning. Nonetheless, the game remains one of the most popular: casinos having perhaps 2 Roulette wheels will typically have 10-15 Blackjack Tables. Frank
Yes I know he advocated for the NRA and people really got on him for that. Disclaimer: I'm certainly not an NRA member but don't want to bother law abiding citizens having their guns. I remember him mostly in The Ten Commandments of coarse. He also participated in Civil Rights as did other actors but he did it at a time when it could have hurt his career as there were plenty of mean and ignorant people around at the time. He needs to be remembered for that also.
Oh no @Frank Sanoica I never gamble...I was married to a compulsive gambler...(now Ex)... so I can't tell you any more about any Casino game in the UK...
