Since I hadn't been feeling well for a while, I haven't gone through a lot of coffee. But I'm back and it's time for another coffee order.
Actually, our kitchen and living room are upstairs - this was a 3-unit apartment building when we bought it, and the upstairs apartment had the nicest kitchen and living room, so we kept that, plus one of the two bedrooms up there, turning the other one into a walk-in closet, which also includes the stairs to the attic; there was no attic when we bought the place, just insulation draped over the rafters and a drop-ceiling below. My office is downstairs, so I have my own coffeemaker down here, where one of the other kitchens had been; we kept just a sink. My wife mostly uses the K-cup coffeemaker upstairs, but I'm bored with K-cup coffee.
HEY LOIS: Istanbul was Constantinople, now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople, So if you've a date in Constantinople, he'll be waiting in Istanbul. Hal
Well, I still want that Bunn but I talked myself out of buying it. My husband is totally committed to the Keurig and bought a backup machine during the holiday sales (stored in the utility room) in case of emergency break-down. So I'd be brewing a pot of coffee for me and I don't drink that much coffee.
My coffee order came, and I just made a pot of the Silencer Smooth coffee from Black Rifle Coffee Company, and it's very good. When I get a new coffee, I always try the first pot just as it is, without chicory or any other coffee beans mixed in with it. Usually, even when it's good, I decide that it would be better with a pinch of chicory or with a few beans from another blend mixed in, and that works well for me. I'm not disappointed in a coffee just because I need to supplement it. But I think I'll like the SS coffee just as it is.
I liked my last bag of Black Rifle Company coffee so much that I ordered another. Labeled on Amazon.com as Black Rifle Company Ground Coffee 12oz Bag (Thin Blue Line Whole Bean), I wasn't sure whether to expect it to be whole bean, which is what I wanted, or ground coffee, since it says both, but it turned out to be a whole bean coffee. It is a light-to-medium roast. I haven't had any yet, but I will report back, probably later today. The Black Rifle Coffee Company is veteran-owned, and a portion of the coffee goes to veteran, law enforcement, fire, and first responder causes. If it wasn't good, I wouldn't buy it just for that reason, because I am shopping for coffee, not looking for a charity to donate to, but it's great coffee, so that's just an extra. Harney and Sons Tea - Hot Cinnamon Spice is something that I have had before because they used to carry it at our local Hannaford store, although they seem to have quit stocking it. If you like cinnamon, it's an excellent tea. I wouldn't drink one cup after another of it, but then, I don't do that with any tea. I have had other Harney and Sons flavors too, and it's a good brand.
The Thin Blue Line coffee is very good too. I suppose that if I had to rate the two, I'd have to say that I prefer the Silencer Smooth variety, but not by much; they're both very good. In both, the aroma suggests a stronger coffee, but the taste is very smooth.
I just ordered another bag of the Silencer Smooth. They probably have others that I'll like too, but I know I like that one and I finished the first bag yesterday.
