And I thought the UPS guy hated me during an ammo-buying phase I went through. And are you really getting it today???

Yep; it's out for delivery. My mailman gives me the side-eye when I get my "subscribe and save" order every month. Usually in a box about as big as a coffin. :D

That's interesting. I did not see that anywhere else. "Abnormal taste" is an incomplete sentence. Does it leave cause a funny taste, or does it make things taste abnormal? I'll have to look further.

    Thanks.

Maybe it affects your taste in clothing or interior decor. Don't make any redecorating decisions while taking that stuff.

Yeh, I'll revert back to my zebra rug, chrome & glass tables, and bean bag chair days.

I'll let you know tomorrow if ear protection is required. I am perusing the detailed 5-page "manual."

    Cool.

My Cuisinart seems to do a pretty consistent grind. I'm weighing my beans and then grinding them so I don't have to make a mess scooping out the grounds...I just dump the entire container into the filter. And there is no already-ground coffee losing its flavor.

I don't plan to do any weighing; I'm just going to use the scoop and dump some in. It's weird that these machines don't seem to have on/off switches. Just stupid timers or "cups" or whatever. I'll have to get used to that for sure.

    Your's too, huh?

Mine has the slide switch to select the number of cups, and can be turned off by sliding that switch to the left. I put in the amount of beans I need, slide it to a high number of cups, and slide the switch to OFF when all the beans are ground. That's a lot of wear & tear. If nothing else, we could just pull the container out to turn it off when the beans have finished grinding, since there's a position switch behind there...and it's gotta come out anyway.

My cheap Black & Decker stops grinding after 90 seconds, regardless of the number of beans in it, unless I lift the lid (which has a switch in it.)

If you could, I'd like to see a pic of your coarsest grind (with the obligatory nickle as reference...and not 5 pennies, please.)

I'm going to have to figure out the on/off thing; a switch would be so much simpler.

I'll make some test grinds tomorrow and post the results.

So I ordered some coffees from a couple of local roasters. Some of their coffees range in price from $10/pound to $14/pound, which is very reasonable (of course, they also have more expensive blends.)

Being new to this, I cannot tell whether some of the descriptions are over-flowery, or if they actually add flavorings to their coffee. Every single coffee from these guys says "Brown Sugar-Almond" or "Raisin-Fig." Would they really not offer an unflavored roast? I'd call and ask, but I've been through the Starbuck's experience of asking for a plain cup of coffee...seems that want to "have a conversation" with everyone but a guy like me. Other sites say "...a hint of chocolate." Well, have you flavored it, or is that just how this roast tastes???
