I thought I was only jesting about the Vampire. I do have 4 silver bullets tho given to me by a masked Ranger years ago. I helped him out on a job. All legit. I'm going to wear my cross now just in case. Sounds like Ernie is a rascal. Glad we were able to shoo off the bear. The rabbit was to keep her happy. Got another rabbit in my bag too.
I do seem to remember hearing that there were some questions about Crazy Uncle Eddie's death. He was missing for several weeks. His badly decomposed body was found back in the hills. The coroner was unable to determine a cause of death. They ruled it an accident because they had no evidence otherwise. Maybe Ernie did kill him. I doubt the we can ever prove that, though. " My dear little Shirley whatever you do dont trust Ernie.. he is a lyin', connivin' varmit that plotted to kill me for my money. There is no curse.. that was to scare away Ernie but there is a money tree. I will send you a clue to the tree's whereabouts shortly. Always, your great uncle Eddie". PS: Burn this so no one else will see it." The note says he will send me a clue. But how?
Write you another note. Scribble his message in the snow. Appear to you in person. But the most pressing thing Shirley is what to do about Ernie. Any ideas Terence.
Patience perhaps Craig. You or Shirley give me the nod and I'll truss him up if he comes. I'll string up some hidden twinned bell alarms too like I did in the army. Easy. Maybe listen to the quiet woods? Anyone approaching might stir up the critters too. I found some feed for Bruce, my dumb mule. Fairly fresh feed too. He was hungry. I'm putting those 4 silver bullets into my colt handgun. I use my rifle mainly but it takes higher calibre bullets. The handgun I lent you Craig will take those silver bullets too If you're interested. Here's one. Three now for me. Shirley's got me spooked. Do you believe in Destiny? I believe in hers but not sure how that may play out for you n I. Whatever, we each have our own destiny and I gave my word. So how much is 10% each for you and I Craig. I thought $1 000 000 ÷10=$100 000÷4= $25 000?? Is that wrong? They have Money trees too in Australia so called because of their round leaves the size of big coins. My old Dad had one. Could that be a clue? This is just a sapling but they are tough, long lived and can grow to about 13 feet, more a desert succulent though but still tough, and flower in winter. Pink n white flowers. Deserts are cold too.
@Louise Miller , stick with us and I'll let you pick some leaves off the money tree. Or Craig and Terence could share their 10% with you. Terence has set the alarms to let us know if Ernie approaches and I'm sure Bruce will also let us know. Let's look around the cabin and if Crazy Uncle Eddie left any kind of hidden message. Meanwhile, I'm hungry. See if y'all can find any thing to eat.
Louise can pay her way by cooking us a sumptuous feast. If not, franks and beans may have to do . Shirley I'll check upstairs for any hidden message from mad Eddie.
I'll skin and dice this rabbit for the pot then I'll patrol and set some more rabbit traps. Gotta check the mule too, n look for footprints. Gotta build a lean-to for him too, so the chopping will be me, and bringing in some wood for the oven. Nice to meet you Louise. Here's a bag of vittles, lots of dried meat n beans n some herbs if you're up for a bit of cooking? Also some coffee or whisky if you fancy them. Hope you like Rabbit stew? Don't count on my Bruce the Mule Shirley, he's as dumb as a mule comes. I got him cheap but he is strong. I have to molly coddle him and keep things real simple for him. I've managed to teach him only a few tricks, "lookout" ain't one of them. Sorry. That was Ginger's job God bless her. Thanks for that plaque you put up for her, it's appreciated. I once heard a Pastor say if an animal loves a human they can go to heaven too. The Lord works in mysterious ways.
Whilst I think of it, somewhere in my big kit is an old bottle of holy water my old Mother once traveled to Lourdes to get. Here it is. Only kept it for sentimental reasons. One of you should take it just in case. Probably you Shirley. I have 3 silver bullets n Craig 1. Ghosts, Vampires, (fake) curses? I always thought this was all bumpkin until now. Its surreal. Tonto was right. Take care all n holler as needed.
Louise, if you get time or inclination, check out the kitchen for those hidden messages too, from Shirley's mad uncle Eddie. Maybe in the pantry with all those jars and sacks? Some old beans over there. I'll whistle if any stanger comes. There's some tins up there high too. I'll get you a chair. I'll keep dicing up the rabbit. Ginger, my old girl dog, loved the scraps, lightly cooked, but now I'll just dry em out for stock or traps. The rats will eat the crap. Whisky?
Nothing in the chimney Shirley and I dont believe we will find a note anywhere else. I figure the original we found on the table was left post death as it contained no dust while there is dust on just about everything else in the cabin. So your uncle is a spectre. I believe that he will visit only you with a location of the money tree soon.
Specters can't leave real notes....... unless he has a ghostwriter. So, if the note is fresh, Uncle Eddie didn't leave it. We saw smoke coming from the chimney as we approached. There was a fire in the fireplace. Someone alive was here. Ghosts don't need heat, either. Could it be Ernie? Did he leave the note? And why? I think we should go back over the ridge and ask the old man at the cabin to take us to where Uncle Eddie's body was found. And I'll take that bottle of holy water........ just in case. He has a gun. maybe he knows something we need to know.
