Copper bracelet 101 Fact / fiction? Or Placebo effect? Interesting for many years this idea of wearing a copper bracelet could help with different illnesses. Well lets us look at some facts copper deficiencies are involved in these ailments. Alopecia [hair loss] – Anemia [common in vegans &high milk users]-Aneurysms [on the wall bulges] – Aneurysm/cerebral hemorrhage—Arthritis [especially where growth plates are involved] – Cerebral palsy & hyperplasia [failure to form]of the cerebellum – Criminal or violent behavior, blind rage, explosive outbursts – Depression – dermatosis – Diarrhea -- dry brittle hair – Fatigue – Fragile bones/arthritis –Hernias – high blood cholesterol – Hypercholesterolemia – Hypo or hyper thyroid – Ptosis [sagging tissue –eye lids, skin, breasts, stomach, ect.] – Kawasaki disease – Learning disabilities – Liver cirrhosis [number 9killer in US]—otosis [lipping of epiphyseal plates]—Ruptured vertebral discs problems – Reduced glucose tolerance [low blood sugar] – Respiratory disease – Swachman’s syndrome – Varicose veins – White or gray hair. Why would people be copper deficient the most obvious is it is not in their food? Some areas of the country the soil is deficient of copper. Personally experience my next door neighbour has a lot of turkeys and chickens about 4 years ago he started losing them 5-10 per day only thing visible is like a blood blister on the skin. After seeing this I came home took two pieces of copper pipe connected to my inverter batteries and put them in 5 gallons of water after about 30 minutes the water was blue I told him to give that to his animals never lost another animal. Other things that cause deficiencies most common cause of copper deficiency is gastrointestinal surgery, such as gastric bypass surgery, due to malabsorption of copper, or zinc toxicity. On the other hand, Menkes disease is a genetic disorder of copper deficiency involving a wide variety of symptoms that is often fatal. Taking copper supplements if you cannot absorb them is useless. You can absorb copper through the skin so a copper bracelet can be use to get copper into the blood stream. Personally experience I have had many people visit me with complains about back pain even had doctors tell them that fusion was the only answer. Giving them a copper bracelet all symptoms when away. Copper bracelets can be easily made by taking a piece of ¼ inch copper tubing put it in a vice flatten it and form it to your wrist. There is such a thing as copper toxicity but I have never seen it unless you work with copper you are not likely to see it Have fun stay health
Count me out, wasn't this something awhile ago? You can go crazy reading and taking all these things. My dad lived to be 93 with no effort. Ate what he wanted and maybe took a multivitamin. I don't think he even went to the dr too regularly.
My wife has osteoarthritis in her finger joints, and claims wearing a copper ring over the joint helps the pain and inflammation. She got the idea from our daughters (who played roller derby) who felt that it helped heal their injuries. I think this may link somewhat into the magnesium threads, as the body requires a balance of minerals to function properly. We have a natural selenium deficiency in the soil here, and livestock die very young if fed only Alaska-grown feed, so we always supplemented. I suspect the same can happen with copper, which (I am a little rusty) is required for hemoglobin synthesis and connective tissue development. That could be the link that binds the stuff together. Too much is a bad thing, too little is a bad thing, just right is a good thing, and it must be balanced with all the other trace minerals.
Had to give up with Amazon, no matter how I worded it, ended up with 'magnetic' copper bracelet Don't want magnets - will try again tomorrow
Sorry if this is a little off topic. When we had goats we were always concerned with copper deficiencies, because we live in a deficient area. You can see it in the faded color and roughness of their coats. We would sometimes supplement orally with copper "boluses." These are copper rods, about 1/4 inch long, inside a regular capsule. They stay inside the goat's stomach (rumen) and dissolve over a one month period. Copper must be balanced with iron and selenium, but maintaining the proper balance is almost impossible without doing lots and lots of blood tests. All I can say is we didn't kill any of them, and it seemed to help. lol
I can barely deal with figuring out what I'm supposed to take or eat, glad I don't have goats to worry about @Nancy Hart Although Pickles is in great shape for an 11 yr old dachshund...never had one health problem or even diarrhea. He always gets a little of what I'm eating if it's not bad for him. He loves his veggies also...like mother...like son (doggie). He's my second favorite son after my human one.
Radar has one or two baby carrots every morning.. those are his snacks, as we do not give him that mess from the stores. And he sleeps most of the day ..in better thelath than than me probably.
Doesn't work. Back in the early 60's my dad was a foreman at a brass mill in CT and came home with a bunch of copper bracelets, simple chains. Never helped anybody. In fact my aunt developed rheumatoid arthritis so bad, she needed surgery on her hands.
Dunno. I was pretty skeptical about the bracelets and thought it to be a bunch of hooie. Not too long ago I had the choice of buying an expensive elbow brace or a $10 elbow sock laced with copper threads at Walmart. Wallyworld won and at the end, so did I. Prior to the sock, I wrapped my elbow so I could lift at the gym as do other bodybuilders when they are trying to protect joints like the knees and wrists but although the wrap “helps” with the pain, it doesn’t do much more. After I tried the sock a couple of times, the pain wasn’t merely being managed, it was going away. After a week or so, it was gone and so I started telling some of the other guys and gals about the copper sock and a few went out and got it’s counterparts for their knees etc. All the reports that have come back to me have been positive so whether it’s psychosomatic or the copper really works is still in question but I won’t switch back to creams and wraps.
As long as it works, it doesn't really matter whether it was the copper or a placebo effect. There is such a thing as a placebo effect. If you believe that something will work, there is a fifty percent chance that it will work. Whether this comes about by opening our minds and bodies up to healing itself or something else is in play, people are healed simply because they believe they will be. Is this how God works? The Bible puts a lot of emphasis on belief, after all. In these days of established science, we may lose out on healings that could otherwise be brought about by placebo effect.
I remember years ago when the copper wrist bands were being sold to stop arthritis pain. I don't know if they worked or not but they were around for quite awhile...so they must have been working for some people. It's the same way with all these supplements, etc. that we talk about. For some of us they really do help, while others find they are no help at all. Is it all in our minds that it is helping or not? I don't think so as I know drinking yogurt smoothies for months stopped my GERD to the point I no longer had to take the 40mg of Prilosec I had been taking for years. And I did not change my diet in any way except for adding those yogurt smoothies. It's been a long time since I remember anyone using those copper bracelets for arthritis pain....but it seems some of my relatives used them and found some relief from their pain...so whether it was just in their minds or not...I am glad they found some relief.
