It seems to me that almost every day a hero or someone I admired from my youth dies, today it's David Bowie who was very influential in the music world. More news here A track from his last album recently released:
So sad. I have a classic vintage book he signed. I bought it at a used book store without seeing that it was signed inside.
I was shocked to read that this morning! Seems he's been battling cancer the last 18 months. RIP David Bowie.
It was a shock for me, to learn of David's death at the age of 69. I have to confess that I used to get him mixed up with Bon Jovi, as they were not in my close musical orbit.(Their names) A few years ago,I found them on vinyl and really enjoyed their music. Some think his Blackstar album, was his way of saying good-bye. RIP David.
Although I've been familiar with the name for a long while, I have never really connected with his music. I'm sure I've heard of some of his stuff that I liked, but not well enough to remember.
I saw it on the news this morning at 5.30am before I left for work, to say I was stunned was an understatement. He'd kept his battle with cancer from the general public...so it's been a HUGE shock to everyone outside his own family and friends!! He was an icon of my youth...a one off...a jacob of many coats...lived a very eclectic life to say the least ...and one of the nicest, kindest men you could possibly meet...and believe me there's very few really nice people in the entertainment world... All the Radio stations here have been playing his music most of the day...may he rest in peace, and play to the Angels...Ground control to major Tom, your circuits dead....may they hear you sing in Heaven!!
I'm surprised they could keep his cancer quiet for 18 months especially the way the media is...nothing is private.
