JMO but regardless of any / none emotional scar nobody is obligated to put up with obnoxious people.

I think I have 3 of the traits on the list of 15! Maybe some of us are just a little toxic?

All depends on what "toxic" means to e/ person. For instance, I define as toxic all those who tell / ask me "You have blue eyes...how come you speak Spanish? See, there are all kinds of toxicity.

I think some of those traits as described are signs of toxicity merely because the words "always" and "never" are used, while others leave room for the broad range we all operate in. Those things are like taking the quizzes in Cosmopolitan...or maybe horoscopes. They all fit a little.

    Actually, I like that reply.
A male stranger compliments a woman on her figure. One woman takes it as intended yet another deems him
    as an obnoxious male.
No one can know which one is correct until we view the circumstances involved with the admiration.

Whilst at the gym, I’ve complimented many females and males but it’s considered to be an atta-boy. If I were going through the grocery store then such compliments might be taken differently even if it were not intended to be so. If I said it to a man, he might think me to be gay and if I said it to a female, she might think I’m making a pass hence, toxic, obnoxious etc.

To me a toxic person is that one who tells her hubby "No need for you to pick me up; I am sure one of the girls will give me a ride. / OK, we meet Monday for lunch; pic me up. / Why you painted the room in white? I don't like it too much." .(All real). A toxic person is the one who always has something negative to say about people, a person who wants to get away with everything, a person who wants to impose his / her ideas and totally disrespect other's

One man’s (or woman’s, lest I seem toxic) paradise is another man’s (or woman’s) hell. I think that sometimes the issue is more one of sensitivity or perception of what’s being presented than actual toxicity. I try to consider the source. For example, if a child were to ask me, “Mister, why are you so fat?” Not that I feel that I feel that am but I just choose this as an example. That same comment though, coming from a colleague or a friend might seem far more negative or even toxic. “Why, how dare they voice such opinions let alone think such thoughts!” Either way though, I have choices. I can give validation to what they say and allow myself to be poisoned with their toxic messages or I can choose to not give them validation at all. The toxic person though may not be able to or be aware of the way that I perceive their methods of communication.

This thought could be considered toxic, perhaps but is it really true? There are two types of people in this world. There are those who are the same as myself and there are the others, the ones who wish that they too were the same. It’s only life. None of us will leave it while we’re still alive. So I try to remember, it’s not personal, it’s life!

A very famous guy once said, "All the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players." (Just a thought to help)

@Mary Stetler And another, albeit, less famous man wrote, “One monkey don’t stop no show!” The drama of life continues.

    Jack ,

Sensitivity or perception............both very legit feelings and whoever experience either one when around certain person has the right to remove him / her from his / her lif..
