Indeed reading is a great way to improve knowledge, reading and writing. This also applies to the audio books, improving comprehension skills in the reader. This is due to the development of understanding as happens from regular reading. Text to speech is a somewhat new method and should be expanded and utilized in every ones everyday life.

I have so many ways to "read"......I have my Nook and shop exclusively at the Free book section. Then, I have a library card in my county and Denver, so not only can I download free ebook library books, but I can download up to 10 free audiobooks from both librarys, plus, I subscribe to audible.com
I wouldn't be able to take a picture of my library, because all I have is a small bookcase with only most favorite-ist books. I have a book that was inscribed by a male friend to a female friend as a going away present from England to America in 1856. And then the other antique books and exceptionally written books that will all be handed down when I pass on.
I fear that physical books are destined to be admired behind glass in museums in the centuries ahead.....

As a librarian, i am used to be in the company of printed books and other printed library material. With the advanced of technology including the addition of eBooks to our digital collection, i was like a school girl given a toy to tweak and play. Before long I got hooked with the online world.. With ebooks, my desire is to write and join the bandwagon of eBook writers, someday.

Barnes & Noble is discontinuing their Nook eBook reader on March 15, giving their customers one week to salvage their content.

So are you saying that everyone that has a nook can no longer use it ? Or that books stored in whatever the Nook-cloud is , will no longer be stored there ?
If someone has been using a Nook for their reading, they can no longer download books ? That will have a whole lot of people being forced to buy a different device to read books from, if that is what is happening. I bet they are practically giving them away on eBay now, if the Nooks will not be usable soon. That is not even very much of a notice for people to save their books either.

No, any books that they have will continue to be available to them on their Nook. But they won't be able to buy, rent or download any others. The discomfort comes into play for those who are using their movie options. I've never had a Nook but apparently they had some kind of arrangement with Disney to sell or rent movies, and that will no longer work. Users will have to create their own accounts with Disney, and I think a few other places. One of the comments I read suggested that they would have to create four other accounts with different companies in order to keep using their Nook so they'd just switch to a Kindle and start over.

I'm so glad, as an author that many are beginning to adapt to ebooks from the library to many other formats like smashwords.com, Kindle at amazon.com or books.google.com. Many sites have a huge selection of ebooks to printed ones that you print yourself to choose from Some sites have free ebooks to read too.
