I am surprised how many don't know that eggnog doesn't have liquor in it. That is something you add. I like adding a little coffee and brandy to mine for some end-of-year cheer. If you go to a Christmas party you may want to ask if any spirits have been added before chug a lugging.
Eggnog season is here, and i got my container of eggnog for the holidays ……. I am SO HAPPY ! ! (Yes, it does not take a lot to make me happy) I am making a cup of instant non-coffee Chicoraya and going to add some eggnog to that and enjoy my first cup of holiday eggnog coffee.
Someone gave me a quart of leftover eggnog last Christmas. Being the thrifty person that I am, I tried it in my coffee in place of cream instead of pouring it out. It was delicious. I hope they have some more left over this year.
I would rather have a good whiskey or bourbon and coke. Oh or Kahlua in coffee is tasty on a cold morning - night
I made me a short whiskey and coke the other day.. it has been least a year..all my rowdy friends have settled on down now
Ours too Hedi, but now and then we go to local pub and I have wine Jake has a couple beers. We only stay an hour or two.
I can't see good so for last week I've been sprinkling 1/2 tsp. of cayenne pepper to oatmeal thinking it was cinnamon. Jake said, "what kind of cinnamon are you using it burns my throat. "I said ir just organic it burns mine a little too. Finally, I realized when it was empty it was hot pepper powder.
I made a small batch of eggnog yesterday for the family gathering. It has to be non-dairy and sugar free for our family due to dietary restrictions, but it went well, and I suspect my wife will finish it today with a touch of spiced rum. I am not a big fan of it myself, but I enjoy making others happy if I can.
My dad used to make eggnog every Christmas, but it was heavy on the "nog." I wish I had his recipe since I never paid attention back then.
Daddy always made eggnog for Christmas, too. He used raw eggs!!!!! And unpasteurized milk from our cow. He added apple brandy. He would give me a tiny bit of it before he added the full amount of apple brandy. Ain't it a wonder that we survived?
I bought a new-to-me brand of eggnog this week; it's called Southern Comfort (non-alcoholic). I think it's the best store bought eggnog I have ever had. Very creamy and not so cloyingly sweet. I bought a quart and used most of it in a Ninja Creami freezer jar so I can make eggnog ice cream tomorrow.
That IS good eggnog, and that is what I bought this time, too, and used for the eggnog ice cream. Our walmart has been completely out of all kinds of eggnog all week, so people must be buying a lot of it right now.
