It's been well over a year now, and Ella is still trying to get rid of Bubba. She even gets angry with me when I pet him, giving me her disgusted look as if to say, "How can you pet that cat?"

My poor barn kitty, Bonneroo, (came with that name and knew it) has always wanted to be an only cat. No other cats welcome!!! Unfortunately, he is a bit of a wuss. And never wins with a real fighter. We had a feral cat move into his bay window in the hay mow this last winter, and get his insulated bed. So I had to build a fire in the barnhouse for him on cold nights. Thought about trapping the interloper but kept hoping he would move on.
Well he did lately but maybe just during mating season. Bonneroo is too old not to have his sunny window and bed. Besides, he sheds in my barnhouse bed!

There's no avoiding it. Ella is going to have to go to the pound. Since I moved into another office, she has a cat bed to the right of my keyboard and trackpad, and she refuses to access or exit her cat bed by any route other than stepping on my trackpad and, when she's not coming and going, she often paces back and forth over my trackpad (and sometimes the keyboard, as well). Plus, she keep picking on that poor, defenseless little kitten, Bubba. So, I hope they have a nice place for her at the pound, and that she can get used to eating Meow Mix or whatever they feed cats at the pound.

Wow ! When poor (spoiled) little Ella reads this post, she will probably realize that she had better straighten up right away and keep off of your trackpad. That IS why you posted this information, right, @Ken Anderson , because you know that Ella diligently reads SOC every day ?

In cat years, she figures she's old enough.

Yes Ken these kittens had a good home very friendly. It makes you wonder who could do something like that.

So what is it about cats that know exactly how to get in the way...and seem to be compelled to? The cats we had when I was a kid, and the cat I had as an adult, would seek out anyone reading the newspaper and just flop on it. It's not as though the stuff's comfortable.

They want your undivided attention so they can snub you.

This is Miss Kitty we took care of her for a month while her owners were overseas just prior to Covid .

She’s a maine coon , she can be rather playful and very naughty for a 12 year old cat

One morning we got up and found found toilet paper all over the top floor of the home …it was in a open packet on the large vanity, so she had knocked it off the vanity and torn it into 100s ’ pieces ……

Latter in the day we was sitting out the back with her and the dog and she was napping on the chair ….I said to her hey ……Kitty did you have fun tearing my toilet paper up ……and this is the look she gave me ……Like no way it was the dog ….you know …..year sure…… the dog is a little cavalier King Charles spaniel …who couldn’t possibly reach the paper

Pretty Kitty! I like Maine coon cats. I had one that came to me as a baby stray many years ago. He had me at meow.:)

In the movies or documentaries of cats in the wild, lions and tiggers and panthers, oh my,
the kittens/ little ones/ depend on bigger ones to survive, totally, and will endlessly climb up on top of them, chase and catch their tails, chew on their paws or sides or manes or backs or whatever,
until they get 'properly' swatted, once or more times as training is needed, and they learn their better acceptable behavior both for play and for hunting or other active pursuits.

Since I was away for nearly two weeks, I am not left alone right now. As you might be able to see, Ella is angry; that's because Bubba is on the desk.
