Maine's hospitals are operating at reduced capacity because people are afraid to come in for anything that isn't COVID-related. Our largest hospital chain is advertising that they are open for regular procedures, and trying to persuade people that it's safe.
I don't know anything about hospital capacities or how crowded they are, but I do know this pandemic is not "fake." Seems like the forum is turning into one giant "Conspiracies and Hysteria" discussion.
No, the pandemic is not fake. Neither were any of the other pandemics that we faced pretty much every year of our lives. While the virus may be real, and the sicknesses and deaths tragic, there are huge conspiracies surrounding the response to it, and possibly even its creation.
The part I found funny is swimming in the raw sewage I can relate to it only recently has Victoria the capital of British Columbia stopped dumping raw sewage into the Pacific Ocean.
The uber-liberal Portland, Maine was dumping its sewage into the ocean only a few years ago. If George Carlin had died in 2020, he would have died of COVID-19 because everyone dies of COVID-19 in 2020.
I disagree with that. The chaos is not being caused by the virus itself. The numbers do not support the reaction, even if you believe them. And while businesses are being shut down, churches are suspending services and families can't see each other over the holidays, rioters are given free reign. That's a fact, not a conspiracy.
That is what I was referring to. Maybe I should have said it is over-blown relative to any other year. They have us to the point we will believe anything rather than have never-ending disagreements and uncertainty. They have us to the point where we will "do anything" to get back to normal.
Heck, the reality of the numbers don't support the reaction...and the numbers are over-blown. There's no conspiracy theory there.
