My favorite movie ending is from "Marty", the romantic story of stocky, homely, 34-year-old butcher Marty Pulletti (Ernest Borgnine) and the plain girl (Betsy Blair) he accidentally meets at a dance, who was scorned and rejected on a blind date. Nobody likes her, not his Mother who says "She's not Italian", nor his single buddies, but there develops such an emotional feeling between them that he forsakes all his friends and bonds with her. There's a scene where his buddies are taunting him, saying "Hey Marty, what do you want with a Dog like that?" At the conclusion, Marty says to his friends"You don't like her...my Mother don't like her...she's a Dog and I'm a fat, ugly man. Well all I know is I had a good time with her last night, and I'm gonna have a good time tonight, and If I have enough good times, I'm gonna get down on my knees and beg that girl to marry me!" Come New Years, I got a date! You don't like her? THAT'S TOO BAD!!! , and then he closes the door to the phone booth and calls Clara. Ernest Borgnine won an Oscar for his portrayal of Marty in 1955.. Go to YouTube and watch the concluding scene from Marty! Hal
Bess, I thank you SO MUCH for posting that final scene from Marty! To me, that is one of the most "feel good" endings in all movie history! I just feel like cheering when Marty says "You don't like her...that's TOO BAD!" Hal
Another "feel good ending" is Con Air when Cameron Poe (Nicholas Cage) gives the teddy bear to his daughter (Casey Poe), whom he has never met before. And then, there is the ending of the movie Blended.
