Round about 2010 they were the first call for a referendum and said the people should decide.

    Very two faced.

Think a lot of them were the ones to have the whip removed...21 I think

So their local party would not back them in a future election

They also said they would 'honour the vote' in 2016 as did Labour

But by "uniting," doesn't that give the larger more populous countries more control over the smaller ones?

    a) apparently not and it would depend on what control is
    b) Greece and Italy had different views on that. Greece even cooked the books in order to get in. No one wanted them. Similar in Italy.

a)I could have written "cooperate more closely". Yet the meaning of that also needs to be specified.
    b) People were aware of that danger. That's why the voting system was not based on the population of a given country.

Then they were fools of course, as always its the common man that bears the brunt
Control is governing another country, interfering with laws, setting taxes etc …
We, the people would never have voted for that

    Sure.

Fools were all those countries that joined the club. Once in, rules must apply but that's not controling another country because they had accepted the rules before or when joining. Controlling and interfering would be the case if, say, France or the EU bodies would try to impose certain policies on non-member states like Switzerland.

'We' the people never voted for the ruling EU and when we were given the chance to do so, we came out in force
    But, we have been betrayed

Not sure what to think of this. I do belong to a United States of Whatever but we are still one country.

Yeah, but you know how annoying it is when the government makes laws that may make sense in one part of the country, but yet is totally asinine in another part of the country. We just get disgruntled because we ARE one country, but tensions in Europe could get really quite nasty on a global scale. It doesn't seem fair for the UK and Germany to have to keep the financial ball floating.

That was my point. We are the United "STATES", not a bunch of countries operating under a treaty.
