Bill, I'm glad y'all are OK. I sent up a little, "Thank You." Is the worst of it over? It sure makes for some pretty pictures, doesn't it?
They say we’ve got e more coming Saturday.. And I was wrong on the snowfall amount, we got seven inches.
Bill, you need to get another source of heat. You can buy a free standing kerosene heater for emergencies. My house is total electric so I have one in case we lose power. You can save water to drink. You can get things to make sandwiches to keep from starving but you can't save heat.
You know the main problem we’ve had is with my oxygen. I’ve got gas stove in the kitchen If electricity goes out I can. light the oven with a match or fire stick.
And you know it is going to be warm weather before we know it. I'm looking at weelchairs, smaller one i could use in my small house, motorized to get around and not get so out of breath. and one that will hold a portable oxygen bottle so I can go out on the patio or on the driveway.
I have an older light weight wheelchair out in the garage. It’s a cheap one you roll yourself around in. It has no feet but one can scut along in it. I have to move out my lounge chair to the garage but I may try that if I can get my son trade these chairs for me. You know wheel chairs may come in children's and adult sizes only. @Shirley Martin
I'm talking about the motorized scooters, Bill. My husband had one of them. I don't know if they come in different sizes. You know what???? I think they do! I see people scooting around town in some that look smaller than the one he had. Maybe they have different sizes for skinny people and fat people.
Yeah, the motorized ones do come in different sizes. the reason I’ve hesitated to get one is if I did, I’d probably kick the bucket and not be able to use it and there would go all that money for naught, and some of those rascals are expensive.
Well, l’m sitting here at the computer in my wheelchair. My son came by this afternoon, brought a loaf of white sandwich bread and a pumpkin pie. He took my office chair, a big chair with arms and wheels that seem to have a mind of their own, to the garage. He also took another chair out of the living/TV room to give us a little more room. He dusted and cleaned the old wheelchair and brought it in from the garage so I could see if it made things easier for me. The old Wheelchair belonged belonged to my grandson who bought it years ago when his wife had an accident.and needed one. When they moved off to new jobs he said keep it or donate it.. It has been in one our garages or another for twelve years. Sitting in my house now it looks brand new absent any feet rest. I’m going to try it out and see if my heart rate easies down a little and my shortness of breath is not so severe, so often. I don’t think an electric wheel chair would be practical in this small house. Wife is watching 60 Minutes, I thinking of wheeling in to the kitchen to build a ham and cheese sandwich with two or three slices of good tasting tomatoes, and afterwards a healthy slice of pie. I may make a cup of coffee.
Bill, I think the VA will cover a motorized wheelchair. I know Medicare will pay 80% if your doctor prescribes one. If you have supplemental insurance they will likely pay the rest. If you "kick the bucket "they just take it back and give it to someone else.
Yes, my medical team has offered to get me one on two occasions. I turned them down because I didn't think I needed one and after using my wheelchair that has been sitting in my garage for years, my house is too small. I'll get by with what I've got.
How about this, mother joins son as new member of the US Congress from Pennsylvania. In my book, that's something special, and the reason it is noted here. https://apnews.com/article/oddities-21a2b8d53e3c84169c29020504d8e841
Today is my granddaughter's birthday. She is eighteen today. She and her mother are in Italy. Their plane that was to bring them home was cancelled. She saud she was having a good birthday, she had ordered some clothes online and they had come in. She's a little bit of a clothes hoss but there's nothing wrong with that. A number of family members came over for breakfast this morning and the Italians do know how to do a meal. She and her mother are supposed to come home the end of this month if the Italian government allows.
