Kind of scary, that middle-of-the-night thing, Bill. I'm glad you got that sorted out, and I hope you can ride your new bike. I used to joke that I need a tractor seat on my stationary bike.
Dear Diary, you sweet thing, you hold all my secrets, the good, the bad, and the unspeakable. It has stormed and rained and more storms and more rain and tomorrow there is another line of powerful storms to contend with (so they say). It is lightly raining now and sparrows and finches take their turn at my bird feeder. Now there is a cardinal feeding at the base of the hung up feeder. I was going out into the world today, get a haircut and stop by the bike shop, select a new seat for the bike so it will look good while sitting in my garage. There seems to be nothing more important in life right now. Mrs Cardinal has joined the group of birds now feeding in the light rain. And a dove! A ring-neck dove whose species first arrived here in the USA from the Middle East in the 1980's. I'll have to do what I intended next week. No sweat. The rain has let up and a group of black cowbirds has landed. I had my back yard mowed last Thursday. It had not been mowed in six weeks, the grass was tall and there are lots of grass seeds in the yard. The birds will have a feast all weekend.
Ken Anderson: "You can tell when a man is well informed. His views will be pretty much like your own." I like that. Wish I'd said it. But some days you're on, some days you're off.
Dear Diary, You and I have shared both a lot of life's troubles and its's good times.Let's get serious for a moment and look at our calendar. On the 30th of this month my nurse is coming to see me. I've forgotten why she is coming, I didn't understand her when she called, but think she said something about a fast, maybe fasting. That must be a routine something. But on the 29th this month my niece is giving her eighteen year old daughter, who has already had one kidney transplant and two heart transplants, one of her kidneys. Let's remember to keep fingers crossed that this one be okay, too. I sometime forget t here are manywho have problems grfeater than my own. But dear diary, you are very good to remind me if I just look in your pages.
Almost 5:00 pm been watching tornado chasers. Several tornados on the ground, one three hundred feet wide. Tv station got cameras on it following one on the ground. Three on the ground heading north-east, of Stillwater, OK. One southwest of Norman headed toward us, but expecting it to die out. Southern Oklahoma and eastern Oklahoma more unstable. Up toward Tulsa. Another fun day.
Glad that you are doing okay, @Bill Boggs ! I jut got another weather alert about Oklahoma on my Apple Watch, and it said that some areas were being evacuated, and I think that was from flooding. Be sure to get out there and open the back gate so that you don’t get all that flooding stuck in your yard !
Doesn't sound like much fun to me, @Bill Boggs . We had a tornado warning for an area that includes my address one day last week. I have to tell you, it struck pure terror in my heart. It didn't hit here but there was a touchdown near here. Do y'all have a "Safe place" to go to in your house? They say an interior room, hall or closet is the safest place to go. Be safe, my friend.
Hi SM. All our storms have been out in open country. Storm chasers working for tv stations allow us to watch tornados. The have enough people to cover multiple storms, a dozen so far. Yes we have a safe place in a hallway closet. We do have an underground cellar out back but the steps re too steep and far apart for my roommate so we don't use it any more.. I saw where you had tornado warming.
Don't know. We had three days when storms started between ten and noon and one super cell storm after another kept coming all afternoon, all even and two big ones during the night and early morning hours. One set down in. The south part of my town, four miles due south of me. I was watching on radar. It took out some trees, some signs and a large barn south of the river. It went on northeast in the air but not touching ground. We have a few storms south of us toward the red river that could develop into something or they might die out. I was in a tornado years ago when everything was blown away, including some cows and chickens and over a hundred bales of fresh baled hay. I've been in three tornados in Texas where multiple people were killed. I'm Leary and afraid of tornados. Reason I watch them closely during storm season. Don't don't mean to get a run a way mouth.
That was a WONDERFUL POST about your bike, @Bill Boggs ! You quit deleting those good posts, so we can all read them. I was trying to put a like on it and quote and respond to the bike story........and BANG! .......it was already GONE ! Ticked at you, for sure, my Friend.......
Another night of storms and tornados. Tornado hit El Reno, OK just west of OKC. Radar followed tornado into Norman, near Medical Center where it disapated. Warnings cancelled a few minutes ago. Not sure how much damage done in El Reno because of darkness. Know a motel and service station destroyed.
This drawing of my granddaughter who left Saturday for Barcelona, Spain was drawn by a Cuban gal visiting here. Granddaughter is meeting up with a college dance troup where she will spend a month. She will then travel to Italy where she will spend another month visiting with family. She is a high school student. I don't think she realizes how lucky she is. Or so it seems.
