This coming Friday is my wife's birthday.. Yes, its Friday the 13th... Is that a lucky time, or what... Friday we are going out for a classical dinner.. Saturday probably food shopping..... then cleaning up the house for Sunday.. Sunday I have invited some friends over for afternoon tea.. That means I will be cooking and preparing something nice..
My daughter was born on the 13th, from the time she could understand I always told her 13 was her lucky number.. to this day she has no superstition about it at all...
Of course 13 is a lucky number.. Only superstitious people won't believe that.. No difference to any other number.. Now... especially if it is Friday the 13th.... its doubly lucky.... My wife (Annmarie), whom I call Princess, is doubly lucky to have me in her life, as I am doubly lucky to have her in my life...
I don't remember if I told you or not, but we have been totally wiped out in our vegetable garden by the most severe FROST of all.. Almost everything is gone except the carrots. onions, and turnips...They are root veggies and survived the frost.. A few nights ago the temperature went down to -4c and froze the plants..
Steve, I just looked at my Celsius chart and it seems that -4 = 24.8 F. Can that possibly be right??????????? It's still hot and humid here. Nights are getting cooler, though. The garden stuff is pretty much gone except okra. My bucket tomato still has a few tomatoes on it. I think I saw one ready to pick yesterday but I was in the car and didn't get out to look closely.
Shirley.............. Your 100% correct... -4c is what we had....... Today I pulled out the tomato, cucumber, and zucchini plants from the garden............. All gone for this year.. They were dead after freezing in the frost we had...
Oh that's terrible..losing all those veggies so early in the year!! ..and soo cold already, wow!!! Today is the anniversary of my mums death. 13th September...R,I.P to my mum...it's a long time ago but I never forget!!
Usually we get a severe frost around this time.. Very often even earlier like the beginning of September.. We can't plant anything till the first week-end in June and by now the growing season is all over..
Steve, that's the price you pay for breathing air that's never been breathed before. As for me, I'll take our heat, humidity and previously breathed air.
Hmmmmmmmmm.. I think I rather stick to where I feel comfortable living, which is right here at home in Massey....
Today (Sunday) we are having over to our house some friends to celebrate Annmarie's birthday.. I will be making some devil eggs, salmon sandwiches, cheese platter with crackers, vegetables with a dip, cookies, and a Birthday cake with only one candle........ coffee, tea, diet ginger-ale, diet 7 up, apple juice and ice water..
Well, we had lots of leftovers.. We had a GREAT time just sitting around and chatting.. Everyone knew everyone anyway.. The biggest hit was the ................ coffee... Went through a few pots of coffee.. They came around 2ish and were hesitant to leave.. Lots of laughter and catching up.. A great time was had by all....
