They are Beautifull @Shirley Martin they have an orange colour under their wings as well ..they are only found in remote patches of bush land now days
Hey, I want one too... my cats would love to have that bird in the house !!!..... they both are gorgeous birds, my dear...
I'm not really into birds.. I don't know anything about them.. Dogs are more my thing and small ones at that.. We have a 6 pound Pomeranian that we love to bits.. She NEVER barks unless there is a reason.. Overly affectionate and very well trained and behaved..
We always had a galah as children ...my grandparents had one who used tip out of his water tin and put it on his head to sleep ...They had him for 50 years and he died the same year as my GP 's ( both passed within months of each other) ...He always knew the local catholic priest ,by his footsteps when he was coming around the back of the house ,.and he would let out a few *'***.. that my GP's obliviously taught him to say ..My gran went out to the local club on pay days and put money in the poker machines / and have a few beers ...and in those days if the priest was aware of you doing such things he would pay you a unexpected home visit
Yesterday there was a severe thunder storm warning with the possibility of large hail and violent winds.. We got ready by bringing in our hanging plants, putting the car in the carport along with the boat and the tractor, taking in any small objects from our patio, and generally preparing for the worst including a power failure.. Well, the storm came and all we had was about 5 minutes of heavy rain and NO wind to speak of.. Nothing more and all that worry and preparation was for nothing.. After the storm, it became beautiful weather..
Almost the same thing has happened here too Steve. Twice!! got everything put away and then it either fizzled or was not a big deal after all..
Everything is still away because it is way too hot to put things back.. It was 35c today which we have NEVER seen and that was the temp and not the humidex.. We are NOT used to this kind of heat.. Especially up here up north.. Good thing we have an air conditioner in the living room window.. its been on all day on high.. House is very comfortable and actually a bit too cold.. According to our local weather station, tomorrow (Saturday) is meant to be worse.. they are calling for 40c as a temperature... I WANT SNOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's 11c here in South Australia Steve .We have just comeback from a 7 km walk ..got caught in a couple of heavy showers of rain ,but we just stood under a tree till the shower passed ..Thr things we do to keep a little fit for our ages
Gee, I wish it was 11c up here now... Way too hot for this far north.. Actually, we are not used to it while those that live in the south would find it just fine ..... Just like you, Kate, in the north of your country it is much different to the south.. You cannot compare Darwin to Adelaide.... Do you live anywhere near Birdwood ???? PS .... my sister-in-law lives in Brisbane
@Steve North ..no I live north of Adelaide ..I've included a link about Birdwood it's a very interesting place to visit We have been up there several times to watch the rock and roll festivities ,and visit the motor museum If you look on the map in the link that shows where Birdwood is in SA ...I live near where the O of the word Birdwood is ...it's called Yorke Peninsula ,it's shaped like a huge boot Our upcoming trip ( holiday ) next Saturday is about 80km south of Brisbane ..we often get on the Gold Coast train for a day trip to Brisbane .....We call our yearly trip which we budget for from one year to the next "Our escape from the cold for a month". We have been "escaping" for the last 8 years, people have said to us don't you get a little sick of going to the same place every year ? No we don't we stay within walking distance of a huge RSL club ( returned services league) Where there is all the entertainment we need.. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birdwood,_South_Australia
Kay that was very interesting and now I really can see that long boot.. I copied this only because it mentioned Adelaide where you often go sometimes.. "Birdwood sits on a crossroads between the Adelaide-Mannum R"
Yes @Louise Williams Birdwood is up in the Adelaide.Hills .....where we live it's mainly flat country ( farming ) That boot shape of YP ..is surrounded by the sea
No we don't Louise ,but the Adelaide hills did get a light sprinkle last week ..which is not "normal" for Adelaide or South Australia ...
