Welcome Back SHIRLEY .................... boy were you ever missed. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I made fish for supper tonight on the stovetop.. Obviously I had the exhaust fan on over the stove.. We were sitting eating supper and we noticed a black bear on our patio right up to the glass sliding door which is off the kitchen.. It wasn't the biggest bear, but still, a bear up to the door.. it must of smelled the exhaust of the fish cooking.. Well, my dearest wife always has a loud whistle around her neck to scare off the bears when she is outside and still had it around her neck, opened up the sliding patio door just an inch and blew the whistle.. The bear ran away.. She had the whistle because she was working in the garden before supper.. Now, if she didn't have her whistle on her, the other option is to yell as loud as you can at the bear, but don't wave your arms as they think they are being attacked and will retaliate.. We both have bear whistles whenever we go out to the back yard.. Our 6 pound Pomeranian is NEVER off a leash.. The bears are hungry and there is nothing for them to eat in the forest.. Been a very bad year for berries.. Too dry.. If the bear becomes a nuisance and starts destroying houses or threatening, we will shoot it without a second thought, but if it is only looking for food, let it go...
I'm sure it has been bad for you, Joyce. .so sorry.. I know Shirley can relate to you first hand.. Time will heal some for you .. im sure ,,but I know the hurt will never goes away but you have many good memories too,, Hang in there.. Have you heard from Shirley yet? she should be home by now. I hope she got her computer back up and running again,, also she may just be taking a rest after all that traveling ..it really can be tiring and not to mention, all the mail that comes while your gone, the unpacking , the laundry , the bills , etc...
Steve, I have never seen a bear at my house. They used to never be seen here but now they are seen occasionally. They are more plentiful in our mountains and near the coast. When I went with my sister and bil to their place near Swanquater a few weeks ago, we went bear hunting. There is a narrow dirt road where the bear are known to cross and people go there to watch for them. We got a quick glimpse of one and I tried to get a picture of it. All I got was a blur. The bears there should be nice and plump. There are thousands and thousands of acres of corn for them to feed on. The one we saw was crossing from a wooded area to a corn field. I still don't have my computer back. It is supposed to be back later today. I'm having withdrawal symptoms so I am going to try to play a few games.
I found this in the obits of Montreal and because of the different name, I thought it would be something to post.. Normally Canadian Angus meat is what we use to make delicious burgers or steaks... CANADIAN, Angus CANADIAN, Angus (Rocky) 1944 – 2016 At his home, on September 18, 2016, at the age of seventy-two years, beloved husband of Carmen D. Canadian. Also survived by his mother Rosalie Curotte, his brothers: Joe and Albert, sister Miranda Mallett, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Poissant & Deer funeral home Kahnawake
Glad your back Shirley .. you sure are brave wanting to see a bear in the wild like that, I would of froze on the spot if I had seen one in the wild like that, Yikes.! Hope you got your puter back today.. you sure have been missed , young lady..!!
I wondered where my last username came from ( Ellery) other that a street in the estate where I live ,named Ellery Court .. However I noticed in the local paper today ,which is only printed once a week ,There was a notice in the personal section of a lady who had passed who's first name was Ellery ...so maybe it's a Cornish name ? considering 75% of the people who live here are of Cornish decent
Well Kate, obviously you know where my user name came from.. My real name is Steve and I live way up in the North... This name was suggested to me to use by our dearest friend and forum sister SHIRLEY who always has the greatest and wisest ideas......
I will put the name into google just out of interest to see what it comes up with My first name is pretty close to my first name ..think ya all know what my name is When I joined here I was racking my brain to come up with a last name and Ellery flitted OK with Kate I looked it up it said it was a Cornish name ,as I mentioned in a previous post 75% of people here where I live are Cornish decent
Why, thank you, Steve. Bless your heart. Kate, that is interesting about the Cornish. I learn something new everyday.
