Thanks Louise.. I am determined to have this operation end up as a success and not doing anything just won't cut it..
Shirley.. Not really as sleeping on my left side only lasts for a short while till somehow my shoulder starts to hurt.. I still sleep almost all of the night on my back..
I am now typing with both hands.. I have undone the sling to allow the arm to dangle for a few hours every day, but only in the house, not outside..
UPDATE !!!! I went for my physio secession today and I have some news to report.. NO MORE SLING unless I am going out to a restaurant or food shopping as it will give me some extra help that I won't be banged into or slapped on the shoulder by an acquaintance or something else like being in a crowd and being shoved.. When in the house, don't wear the sling any more.. I CAN START DRIVING the car.. Start by going around the village streets to get used to driving and then.... go for it.. I CAN USE THE TRACTOR but just keep the right arm from lifting, twisting, or straining.. If I feel strain, stop ... I CAN NOW SLEEP ON MY LEFT SIDE without a support pillow under my arm.. I CAN NOW START COOKING AGAIN but be careful lifting those heavy pots and pans.. As I am typing this post, I have no sling and I am back to using the computer as before.. I MUST continue doing my special exercises that was given to me and they are to loosen up the joint.. Strength exercises will come later after the joint isn't as stiff as it is now.. I haven't taken a pain killer in several weeks and I don't think I will need them again.. Just thought you would like the latest update.................................
I will be off line for a few days.. Our son .... David ..... The President.... is coming to visit us on the week-end and he will be staying in our spare bedroom where the computer is.. I don't like to disturb him in order for me to use the computer, so I will not be on for a few days.. We haven't seen him in 4 years and this week-end will be a real treat to catch-up on everything.. He has now left Vancouver where he lived till he was elected President of the Canadian Transportation Union (UCTE) and has moved to Ottawa which is only an 8 hour drive from Massey.. Hopefully we will be seeing him more often now that he has moved to Ottawa..
Today is Thursday and he is only coming here Friday evening.. I still have today and tomorrow to post..
Im glad your son is coming down to see you Steve, it will be a joy for you and your wife and for him also..Im sure you all will have a lot to catch up on. unless he has been emailing and calling you since his absence..but still , its always best when you can actually see your children in person..
We speak to our son at least twice a week every week and sometimes more than that.. We keep in touch and are close even though we haven't seen each other for about 4 years.. Looking forward to bonding and catching up on each others life.. Nothing like being there in person Looking forward to cooking for him.. I will be making special meals for supper.. if the weather permits, a campfire..
Our son has gone back to Ottawa.. left on Sunday about 2:00pm so not to arrive too late.. It is a 7 hour drive from our house to his.. Full day of work tomorrow for him and back to the grindstone.. We will most likely see him again in about another 2 months or so for another week-end.. We had a glorious time chatting and catching up on news.. I cooked up a storm for him which was appreciated..
