"Gaslighting" was Merriam-Webster's word of the year for 2022.

The woman (Dr. Ramani) in the last video has many others on narcissists and gaslighting. A very good one is about "Flying Monkeys" and smear campaigns. Her case study was in the workplace environment, which I mentioned earlier was my first experience with gaslighting. It was spot on.

A supervisor where I worked (I'll call her Hazel) was/is a narcissist. Her method was smear campaigning. She would get you in her office alone and gossip about other employees she didn't like. Her mistake was to gossip about long time employees who had been around for many years before she came. Everyone else who had been around knew when she was bending the truth about them. New hires didn't.

She WAS successful in gaslighting one of her supervisors up the chain (I'll call him Melvin), because he was new in town. Melvin only lasted about 3 years. One of my friends described the last time he visited Melvin in his office. Melvin just stared out the window muttering Hazel's name. Then he resigned and left town. About all you can do is get far away from people like that. It's why I retired early.

Hazel only lasted 8 years in the supervisor position, but has spent time since trying to undermine whoever is currently in her old position.

    Yvonne Smith,

Your poster reminds me of an American female politician; she asked why in the Argentinean National Soccer Team no one player was black. She showed her ignorance all the way. In Argentina the black population amounts to less than 1.5%....and trust me, if one person in that 1.5% was an excellent player he would be in the national team.

I agree, @Silvia Benoit . We live in an area of Huntsville where we are a mixture of white, black, Hispanic, and some Oriental, and Hindee . Everyone is just another person, and not judged by their skin color. Some people are nice and some are not, and those come in all colors. The whole idea of hating another person because of skin color is being pushed on people of every color nowdays.

    "Yvonne Smith,

Sorry for this: Spanish speaking people from Latin-America ARE NOT Hispanic but Mexicans, Peruvian, Argentinians, Colombians.... and the rest.
To use the gentilic "Hispanic" to describe us is as wrong as to call a cow a horse.
"Hispanic " comes from HISPANIA....the original name of España (Hispania / Spain in English) when this land was part of the Roman Empire.
IAW: Whenever you call us Hispanic you are changing people's nationalities to Spaniard, making us a group with no individual traditions / history..
We, the Latin Americans don't like this "classification"....in fact, we find it offensive.

No offense intended, @Silvia Benoit . The neighbors call themselves Hispanic, and I just used the same identification terms as they use themselves, so I do not think that they are offended by that term like you are.

The intent of my post was simply to say that we all live in the same area and all get along fine with each other, and was not trying to offend you by doing that.

Be offended if you wish but by definition, Hispanic (adj) refers to ALL Spanish speaking people and in particular those of Spain.
I’ll keep using Hispanic rather than Latino specifically because none of my Hispanic neighbors speak Latin.

    Yvonne Smith,

They call themselves "Hispanic" because that's what they are told day in and day out. Most of the people you refer to were born in USA and they don't know the difference between Latino / Latin American / Hispanic....and many others lack a good education.
I am of French origin....do you think I enjoy having my history and costumes switched to the Spanish ones for the simple fact I was born in Argentina and my first language is Spanish?
People tend "" to see" race / religion / nationality as synonyms.
