It is kinda sad that train sets are no longer popular. Now its online games. Von do you play games online? Some of my elderly friends do.
Glora, it's not the trains I'm concerned with...its the benchwork that goes around 3 walls of the room and is bolted to the wall studs. In addition, there are several sheets of plywood and buckets of stones, gravel, and sand to remove, all way too much work in my weakened, arthritic condition. I just hope the buyer of my house is willing to keep the railroad. Hal
Yes, I do. Most games I play are against the computer or one player games. The games that I was interested in all seemed to have rules that I wasn't aware, very disappointing.
We don't play games much anymore and last time we played Scrable son laughed and ask how long we been playing with all those lost letters. He never should have told us since we enjoyed it till we found out.
Since I got the new insulated curtains that were on closeout at Amazon, I have been going through the ones that we took down, laundering them, and boxing them up for the people who just moved in behind us, and who need things like curtains and bedding. We have more than we need, and it is time that I did some de-cluttering in the storage room, and re-homed some of those things that we do not use or need. This is a poor area of Huntsville, so people usually are happy to have something when the person wants to give it away, and people always check before garbage pickup day, for any thing usable that is left along side of the road. Things we don’t give away will just go the the thrift store instead. And once some of the unused stuff is gone, maybe I can find the things that I want easier ?
Oh good thread!! Yes I have, never had filled my place with a lot, but I have trimmed it even further down now. I sold my bike I hardly road, I have taken a lot of clothes to St. Vincent DePaul, along with a lot of camping gear, travel items, bedding I had that fit only Twin mattress as I have Full-size for the last, several years I even got rid of some furniture in my living room but that was to make room, in front of my TV for my rowing machine, lol! Knic knacs too, quite a few of the ones that aren't a personal gift. They were bought 2nd hand Feels good, I don't feel so heavy, and if/when I croak, people won't have to move a lot of crap out of here My family might feel it's worth it to come get a few, really, nice things I have left.
This is in response to Faye's suggestion that I take a musical instrument with me when I move. I can only take the ones that don't require making a Chord, because my hands and fingers are so stiff from arthritis that I can't form the proper placement of the strings on the fretboard. This leaves only the Keyboard, the Clarinet, and the Bass Viol, which I can still play. Harold
Good luck, Hal! I sold all my instruments last June, when sudden arthritis in my wrists/hands almost turned me into a helpless invalid. For some reason I'm around 80-90% fine now, but still with some stiffness. I did keep my Takamine acoustic/electric guitar, but I can't play it very well now, fingers too stiff in certain positions. So I don't even bother trying much; I used to play nearly every day. Not being able to do much with it is a bit depressing, but not much I can do about it.
Joe, that's not the kind of banjo that everyone plays...its a 4 string Tenor Banjo, used in Dixieland jazz bands. Country types wouldn't know how to play it. Hal
Think about the Hoarders tv show. My house is approaching that. I did take a very large Christmas Tree stand and a Japanese mother of pearl lacquered picture down to the church thrift shop. I bought a toaster. Two items for one is a start.
