Vegetarians and vegans sometimes use portobellos as the patty itself, as it can me made to taste very much like a meat patty with proper treatment.

I made the fatal mistake of having one of those at a fair once. BIIIIIIG mistake. It was like biting into a hot grease-soaked sponge. One bite was enough!

And folks wonder why we seniors have so many medical conditions based on sugar and fat. Shoot, if we all laid off of the goofy stuff, we’d be healthier than the millennials. :)

The type of oil for frying makes a big difference.

Somehow "chef" and "deep fried twinkie" does not compute. :D

Not trying to argue or take anyone away from sweets Lon but (yeah, there’s a but to it) a single Twinkie has a ton of soy in it which is the last thing a male needs in his diet. Soy and testosterone are direct enemies and the problem is, soy almost always wins.

Added to the fact that a single Twinkie has: 220 calories
    7.8 grams of fat
    15 mg of cholesterol
    36 grams of Carbs
    only 3 grams of protein
    17 grams of sugars
In total there are 37 ingredients to a single Twinkie in which only a half dozen or so are recognizable to the average human.

All that said, growing old is indeed a time to enjoy one’s self and no one should be denied some sweets. Lord knows, I love my cheesecake but it’s only a once in a while kind of thing. I really hate working so hard to build muscle and keep my brain going at top speed and then have a bunch of fat cells building up all over the place because I can’t burn them off due to a lousy diet.

Still, if a Twinkie is all it takes to be happy, then so be it, go for it.

Edit: Just to stay almost on topic, how about a portobello stuffed Twinkie? No? I tried.
