"Willie Nelson has released what is essentially a musical acceptance speech with his latest album, a tribute to the timeless songs of George and Ira Gershwin called Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin".
Thank you Joe, that was delightful....who knew Willie's inspiration was Ol' Blue eyes himself..wow!! Willie is such an amazing man and at 83 is still got a schedule that would cripple a singer half his age...I've searched my brain and I can't think of any female singer who has got to the same age as him, and not only works as hard but is still worshipped by millions as willie still is.. from willie and Nora...
Thanks,Holly that was great! Willie is a singer, without borders....he can go anywhere! "Four wives, seven children, 350 albums and his own line in marijuana: Willie Nelson has never done anything by halves. Lifelong fan Zoƫ Heller boards the tour bus".
Ohhh, @Chrissy Page , thank you, it's 8:00am and your last video maded me want to cry, but I've cried enough tears in the last two years to drown in. Willie is my favorite male singer, and Patsy Cline was and still is my favorite female singer. It's weird to realize she died before either of us were out of diapers. I have her complete collection of songs on cd's, and I can sing every one of them from memory. For the last couple of years as I sing "She's Got You", I've change one word now. Instead of the words 'She's Got You', "I sing, "God's Got You".
yep Ina, I agree, I was only a tot when she died, and I never heard any of her songs until I was in my teens, and although I went through my teens in the 70's loving all the latest chart hits, I secretly in my bedroom used to play Patsy Cline over and over until I learned all the word of every song off by heart...I'd have been laughed out of town if my mates had known lol.... She died soo young, yet she released dozens of songs in her short life....
I actually had a set of Patsy's CDs, hubby loved her and I liked her also. My ex was also a fan. She had a lot of great songs! Sometimes on a CD there are always a few songs that aren't so good but hers were all good.
That's true Chrissy.... The one thing I did think though, was given how young she was and compared to her contemporaries at the time, she always seemed to dress in a very old fashioned way...almost dowdy really... for example..this one when she was only 30 years old and not long before she died..
She also had a bad marriage or two and maybe her husband would beat her for looking sexy....you never know. Just a thought though....
I saw Kris at a festival in Austin for free in the early 2000s, as good as ever - Love this song and video, thanks for sharing. I have always been a big fan of his music as well as the few movies with which he has graced us with his presence. I also love Glen Campbell - one of my all time favorites along with all the other folks, I consider Kris more folk than country and Glen somewhere in between - Thanks again for the shared videos - Cheers!!!!
I used to love country music but I haven't listened to it for awhile. It was getting to rock for me. When I couldn't understand the words over the blaring music I quit listening to it. My favorite was George Jones I don't think I ever heard him sing anything I did't like. I also love Willie, his Stardust album was the best.
