Oh, so sorry Ina. Coffee is hard to give up. Maybe substitute a cup or two here and there with de-caff? I know its not the same, but I'm thinking just the flavor might tide you over??
Yes I agree there is some good decaff coffee about and if it's just the taste and the warm feeling that is the way to go. You only need the wake up stimulating effect first thing in the morning, unless you are addicted to caffeine I guess.
I thought about what @Ruby Begonia and @Terry Page have said about decaff coffees, and I'll try it. I have no problem with not drinking soda or other types of caffeinated drinks. Coffee doesn't wake me up, nor does it keep me awake at night, so I don't think it would bother me not to have so much. Now the problem for me would be the taste. I sort of remember trying it right after it came out, but I also have a memory of it having a yucky taste. Is there such a thing as good decaff? Any suggestions??????
They do make a half regular/half decaff coffee. We tried it once, but seemed to drink twice as much, HA! I liked the suggestion to drink regular in the morning, and decaff later in the day. Here's a decaff coffee taste test.
Ina, my daughter has a few different flavored Decaf coffees for her keurig coffee machine and she's a regular coffee drinker but drinks those at night as a treat! I've never tried them but the flavored sound delicious!
@Chrissy Page, would you ask her what the names are? I too use a Keurig coffee machine, and I would like to try some of the decaffs, but I admit I don't relish going through the bad tasting ones.
I usually only have 1-2 cups of coffee first thing in the morning, and that is it for the day. Now that we are getting into winter, I am apt to drink more coffee later in the day as the weather gets colder. I love flavored coffees, anyway, and I really don't even notice the difrerence with the regular and the decaf. Of course, I order my coffee from Amazon, and look through the Coffee Fools selection of closeout coffees. @Ken Anderson recommended that brand (although not the flavored coffees) in one of his posts, and so I checked it out. they are a very high quality coffee, and just the regular one lb size package is usually $13-$17 . However, Amazon always has some on closeout, often as cheap as only $3. They are an add-on item; so I look when I am ordering another item and that way there is no extra shipping charge for the coffee. Since I do not have anything but just a plain old drip coffee maker, I only get the bags of ground coffee; but it is likely that they also have the little cup things for the expensive coffee makers as well. Even if they do not have the cups; Amazon is a great place to check other coffee companies that have the option of getting the cups.
When I ran a coffee shop in the 1990s I always used Rombouts coffee filters, the only brand where the decaffeinated version actually tasted better than the caffeinated one, it will be expensive to buy in the US I guess and it's a couple of decades now since I had any, it worked out at 30 cents a cup then. I just looked and see it's on ebay from Florida but works out at over a dollar a cup there may be other suppliers though.
Good morning, this beautiful Sunday morning. Hibiscus Tea, Croissant & jam, a green apple, and the early morning sun shining in the window. Thank you God for this pretty morning.
@Ina I. Wonder , I asked my daughter this morning and she said she buys the decaf flavored coffee sampler. That has about 10 different flavors, some of which she says you cant even get in the stores....she says they are all good! This is the one she buys.... http://www.amazon.com/FLAVORED-COFF...sr=8-1&keywords=Flavored+decaf+coffee+sampler
