I was just reading about assisted suicide or the right to die in California. I didn't even know it was legal here. Of course Catholics are against it and you won't get a catholic hospital to do it. My dr is affiliated with St. Agnes. Which means if I'm ever terminal and in extreme pain I would have to find a dr from Kaiser Permanente. The article I just read stated that in the last 6 months 111 terminal patients have gone through with the assisted suicide in CA. I think it's only legal in 5 states ...Oregon, Colorado, California and I forget the other ones. I know the topic is abortion but as a senior, I'm more interested in the right to die. I was going to start a topic on this but changed my mind so thought I'd squeeze it in here...sorry.
I think any with a rational mind and an inhibiting life factor should have a right to die and I would extend that to 'lifer' prisoners.
Yep and although the are those that argue all the ramifications etc. I think you will know when the time is right to use that option and for me it's when all hope is gone and the pain can't be controlled with meds.
