I wasn't aware that home study is getting popular here. It started with those in the entertainment like actors, singers and other performers who cannot find time for attending regular classes in classroom studies. They are now being schooled at home on their own pacing.

The upside is the affordability of those students who don't have much time to devote for studying. And with the use of the internet, the home study program looks efficient and effective as a learning means. The downside is the abuse. Since exams are conducted online, anyone can take the exam as a proxy... that's cheating.

As homeschooling family, we enjoy the benifits, flexibility, and engaging ourselves in a lot of subject matter and knowledge that interest us. Mostly they're short-lived and seasonal. In our town, we register to arts, drama classes, painting, science discovery sessions. Of course, there are no exams for any of those, so, we don't stress much about that extra 'chore'.

About cheating during online exams (never have seen those ones), I think it's to these actors' detriment to not really study and learn and not enjoy the process of benefiting from studying while they're at it. :).
