A sunny day with clear skies. -5 F. when I got up this AM but the sun is shining and everything is bright. It got up to +72 in the little greenhouse yesterday with no heat. It didn't get above freezing outside though.
Yesterday we switched to AC. We are under a tornado watch now. NOW until 4:00pm Sat Tornado Watch This Afternoon Showers Likely and Windy High: 81 °F Tonight T-storms and Breezy then Mostly Cloudy Low: 58 °F Sunday Decreasing Clouds High: 71 °F Sunday Night Partly Cloudy Low: 43 °F Monday Partly Sunny High: 69 °F Monday Night Mostly Cloudy Low: 42 °F Tuesday
We're having near white-out conditions right now. I don't know how long it's supposed to last, but it wasn't even snowing when I started my SMART Recovery meeting (which I host on Monday nights). When we got through an hour and fifteen minutes later, it was snowing heavily. It won't stay on the ground, I'm sure, because it's 35 degrees right now.
I think Alaska has the biggest weather extremes of any state. It is the biggest, so I guess that should be expected. Yesterday the temperature on the North Slope was -47 F. WITH A WIND CHILL OF -75. Southeast Alaska got up to +44 F., so there was a 91 degree difference between the coldest and warmest place in the state. It was 15 F. this morning here when I got up and it is supposed to get up to freezing or slightly above today. Wife's records show -15 F for 2010 when our kids were camping outside on this date.
Well its hit 62f today strong sunshine and a warm gentle wind. First Spring feeling day of this year. Did some gardening by cutting the lawn and tiding up the garden(Yard) Will start to plant tatoes and beetroot soon.
It is a dreary drizzly day today. But I looked nationwide and there are some pretty impressive storms to the south and east. So, I'm good.
It is getting up to above freezing during the day now. Wife sent a picture of herself sitting in front of a fire in the patio fireplace...after she and our youngest son dug it out of the 2+ feet of snow. Our son in Kansas City replied that NOW he remembers why he isn't moving back to Alaska anytime soon as it was 70 F. there and he was planting potatoes and such.
2/3 of the state is in a blizzard. It’s snowing and blowing here and I’m staying off the roads but it’s actually much worse north of me with roads closed and power out in some places. Spring must be right around the corner, some corner. We’re just having a little trouble finding the right one.
A tornado watch is in effect until tomorrow. It's very quiet right now. No insects buzzing, no birds chirping and that gentle breeze is still here. We best to hold on tonight. I tell ya I crack myself up.
