Oh so glad @Yvonne to hear from you! What got me was the radar photo of the circulation of the first one I saw hit Huntsville, but I couldn't find out how wide the tornado was, and realized after watching, Huntsville is pretty big! I'll put a clip if I can find it of the the first tornado on radar, when it entered Huntsville area. I've been watching these once in awhile because I get tired of hearing Ryan coughing, he's sick a lot, or maybe allergies, LOL, am I awful or what :D:p I don't remember seeing a hook like this one on radar though, and I was truly worried about you and bobby Yvonne, geesh:

Here is a screenshot from the weather channel. I marked our location circled in red, and the “A” is the arsenal (Redstone Arsenal) which is just a block away from where we live. Every storm that comes by seems to split and go either north or south of the arsenal, and Bobby and I joke that they have an invisible dome that they put over the arsenal when storms come through.

The storms that came through last night hit downtown and on the higher hills northeast of Huntsville, from what I have read on the local news reports.

Since it happened downtown and at night, I assume the risk of injury was minimal.

I’m glad to hear it missed you guys. Last night I heard it hit a hospital in Huntsville but first reports are often wrong. I hope that one was.

Nothing as exciting or terrifying as tornados but areas around here had small amounts of snow last night. None at this location, but Anchorage was reported to have received two or more inches and Palmer received snow in several areas but not over the entire area. It felt cold here, although the temperature was around 50 F. The wind and cold rain made it seem much colder.

Down to 24 F. last night, but it doesn't appear that it will get that cold tonight. I went to a small cattle ranch to get manure yesterday and it was snowing and windy up there. I wished I had put on another layer as all I had was a Carhart hoodie on.

Be careful of cows eating hay with Grazon in it. It goes thru the animal and poisons broad leaf (vegetable )plants. Thus your growing medium.

The rancher uses the manure on his own garden and is proud of the turnips he raises. Thinks for the heads-up though. I will ask. Most farmers and ranchers don't use a lot of chemicals here, but there may be some who do.

Holy cow! We had hail today. It was between pea-sized and marble sized, but it was by far the largest hail I have ever seen in Alaska. We had plants out to harden off and it was a mad scramble to get everything under cover.

What's the deal with the dust storms in Illinois lately? Anyone know what the source and cause is?

We're getting overflow as dustfalls here in lower Michigan. My car already needs a wash after under two days.

I was watching a guy discing the fields. He looked like he was trying out for the Indy 500! The dust was unbelievable. Maybe they have hot shots in Illinois too?

We are flooded around here after some big storms. They are not uncommon in the spring. But some produce more rain than others. The tornadoes hit Iowa this time.:(

Fall plowing or disking will cause the topsoil to blow away. I remember seeing black snow in Iowa, and my FIL was cursing the farmers as he lived through the Dust Bowl in Oklahoma and he remembered the same thing there from cutting down the trees and plowing in the fall.
