We had a hell of a ride again yesterday and through the early evening hours. Tornadoes, large hail, lots of rain, flooding, 70 mile hour winds, power outages, and lots of damage in many areas. As of now, the sun is coming up and it looks to be a decent day so far.

You can buy owl decoys to scare off other birds. Owls are predators. Perch one on your windowsill John.

Heavy rain expected soon. I'm glad. It cuts down on the number of things I have to do, like water the new grass.

Here, at this time of year, singing birds are establishing territory.
You know what it is looking for. You just HOPE you are wrong.

Excellent idea. I got a rubber snake to scare away chipmunks. It did not work. But people have used the owls with success. There are even plastic alligator heads to put in ponds.o_O

Everything was nice yesterday, sunny and a light breeze, and I worked outside (in and out) most of the day, and then watered everything good last night before it got dark.
At around 3AM, the tornado sirens were going off , thunder was crashing and lightning was flashing. So, we got up turned on the tv to see what was happening . we had a storm roll through and lots of tornado watches, but as far as i have seen, we did not get any actual tornadoes nearby, and once the alerts were over, we went back to bed again.
So, today, i do not need to water, the air is fresh, and the sun is trying to come out again.

There is a Tornado Watch until 11PM for parts of North Carolina, Maryland and 50 of the 95 counties in Virginia (including mine), while there's only a 30% chance of rain here. There are no storms east of the Mississippi on radar that I can see, and the wind peaked at 10MPH earlier and is only forecast to hit 5MPH all evening long.

    I don't understand.

Be afraid! Be very afraid. Like I said, they used to report on the weather. Now the tv has storm center 5(or whatever the station is) on all the time. One of the last rains we had was coupled with a storm front. But the radar said it would be just rain by the time it came here and then the big stuff went north. The sirens were going off and I thought that was just done if a tornado was sighted. The radio announcers were confused too.
Probably all part of the plan.

Geez what a day. This morning without any warning Major hail storm. I mean tennis ball and golf ball hail - hitting hard and fast. Major dents in the truck. In the mean time- in Texas - can't get a hold of my brother, so many power outages. My BFF has been without power since 6 am. Reports are it may be days before all power restored.
A daughter, her neighbor next door lost roof to their home-and their large dog was carried by wind and killed. They were trying to get it inside at the time. The list goes on.
Sine the storm this morning here, calm sunny.

It seems like the heartland and Texas have both had heavy hits with storms this year, more than normal. Glad that you are okay, @Hedi Mitchell , with all that large hail, and at least the storm didn’t break the windshield, which would have been much worse than dents are.

It rained one more time, yesterday, but now I can put stuff out in the sun to dry. Thank goodness.
