Please tell MR Polo to forgive me. I have sexual problems, as my middle daughter tells everyone. I call boy pets her and girl pets he.
Yup we got some of that yesterday and last night. The cold front came into that heat wave with huge winds. I am glad I trimmed up a tree that was in front of the farm house. Dead limb might have taken out my roof! And, yes. I have a barnhouse, the brick farmhouse, and my hubby's house. that way, I can sleep around. I was at a big box store when the winds came up. I left in a hurry to batten down the hatches. All I could see in my mind was chickens blowing all over the road!
(Replacement post, dunno why the first one went up, I wasn't finished) We got tons of tornado warnings!!! This came out of nowhere!!! It just ended, and the super-cells have past my home. Counties east of me are getting slammed. My yard and driveway look like a lake. -Golf ball size hail, per the weatherman -Gate-to-gate wind shears peaked at 103mph (the weather guy was shocked), a couple consistently at 80mph -Funnel clouds cited 6 miles north of me and one just 4 miles west...no reports yet of ground contact -215 cloud-to-ground lightening strikes in a rectangular area spanning my county west-to-east (the path of the storm) -Rain falling at 1.5"/hour -Wind gusts over 60mph Man, that was intense. I thought I was back in Indiana. I guess this is supposed to be some sort of apology: I often get a double rainbow. You can see it trying above the strong one.
Not the weather but related. We had a wildfire start about 5 miles to the north today. There was a great response, but they had trouble using helicopters to dump water as some bozo was flying his drone around interfering with the choppers. They got it completely contained and were mopping up this evening.
We get one good day, Sunday, high only 89. Then predicted: 100, 104 and 103 Tues-Thurs next week. I hope they are wrong. Got to mow some lawns.
I got my HVAC fixed today but have to let things dry out a while before using the heat portion. The overnight lows for the next several days are gonna be 62°, 49°, 50° and 58°...in the middle of June. I guess I'll fire up space heaters and just deal with it.
I went walking yesterday dressed like I was going to a Sports illustrated summer edition sportswear shoot in the Caribbean and today at 40 degrees cooler I went walking dressed like I was going to the arctic dog sled races. It is just crazy here for the middle of June.
Now I know why they changed the name from global warming to climate change. I was going to pick up some baby chicks about a half hour away. I am not sure they will be warm enough on the way home, so have to wait. The wind died down late in the day and I did too so I did not do some spraying that I had wanted to. Five days waaaaayyy below normal this week and two going to be hotter than hades.(warm enough for chickies)
We got day-old chicks a few weeks ago and put them into our old brooder for a while. When they were fully-feathered, we put them outside with a hanging heat lamp and now they are ready to join our other two old hens when they get the courage.
Very similar to our weather, but we have not received the predicted rain yet. A few sprinkles today, but not much. It is supposed to rain for the next three days.
I always seem to need to make concessions when I get chicks. once I had to keep them in my glass enclosed shower as a brooder because it was too cold out and we had a cat that liked birds. too well. I've made up a brooder for nites and then put them outside with a towel over the enclosure to keep them from getting heat stroke but so they could enjoy the grass. This week I figure the ride home will be too cold for the time it takes to get the newbies home even with the heater on. Gilda is still right. It's always something.
