I have heard other here talk about the winter to come, but I just take it as it comes...can't change it.
We are in the 50s now--day and night with rain. Northern Alaska has posted the first winter storm warning of the year...groan. Hopefully it will wait until at least the end of August before it moves down here.
53 F. and showers with wind. We are now under a flood watch expecting 2-4 inches of rain in the next 24-48 hours. It definitely feels like fall, and this storm is coming from Siberia, where much of our winter weather comes from.
The highs finally came down into the upper 80's here, and supposed to stay all next week. But it rains or sprinkles almost every day, so it's like a steam bath. At 9:30 am yesterday it was 81, but the humidity was 84%. I've given up doing anything but the minimum outside until September.
34 F. here this morning. No frost but close. Frost possible tonight. The rain has stopped for the moment however, so that in a way is a good thing. People have been getting uneasy about the fact eh birds are already staging for migration--about 3 weeks sooner than usual. It snowed between Anchorage and Fairbanks, so conditions got a bit slippery, as folks don't have winter tires on yet. Mist and fog rising off the water this morning.
Hubby just back from a trip to corner store... he said - the sun feels lkike it could eat your skin off- Yikes
It's quite cold here. Hubby and I went digging teasle and barely broke a sweat. Nite time temps in the 50's!
https://www.yahoo.com/news/disaster-larger-world-history-coming-204541985.html Ok a massive flood is possibly coming to California because of climate change!!! But in the article it refers to The Great California Flood that happened "long BEFORE climate change in 1862". This when most worry about the huge draught. Pause for Beth's little frantic people. When I first bought my farm, we had a 100 year flood, the likes of which last happened in 1927. It scared me that my buildings would be swamped but everything drained well and ended well. And climate change was not even a phrase. When I used to watch tv for the weather, the segment was called weather center 5. But now it is called STORM center 5. Even if the weather is nice. It is a small thing but don't Democrats notice the changes?
84 degrees and "scattered showers." We got almost an inch of rain early this morning and it's still sprinkling.
