We ended up with 18 inches, but everything appears to be open and I made it into the appointment just fine in my truck. The car wouldn't have made it out of the driveway, though, so I have some work to do. Power came back on around 5 AM.

I have been clearing snow all afternoon, and wife has just taken my truck to "rescue some people who are snowed in. All the plow services are swamped and won't be able to get to everyone until perhaps late tonight or tomorrow. Snow is already over knee-deep on me and I just can't wait until the snowy months of February and March! Maybe I will have to bring out the snowshoes that @Faye Fox talked about earlier:)

We are still having an Oklahoma winter here in Wisconsin. For the next week 30sish. I would hate this if I was a kid but I am kinda liking it as an old lady. It snows a bit at nite and melts in the day.

Our coldest day of the season so far: -24 F. so the snow isn't melting More snow is predicted for tomorrow. The person my wife went to "rescue" on Wednesday had a Subaru, but they said it wasn't worth much if the snow got over 6" deep. It apparently couldn't negotiate the 18" as it didn't have the clearance. Since it is supposed to snow tomorrow, I expect it to warm some by this afternoon. Damn that global warming....

This guy is kinda nuts, but it gives you an idea of what it is like in the cold. Most of you have never been in cold like this much less sleep out in it, I have certainly been in cold like this or colder, but I have never slept outside in this cold. My two older sons have done so , but they were not in a tent. They dug a snow cave and we quite cozy inside.

What kind of gloves are those? I can't move my fingers that well in mittens in 15 below. Have to use 'hot hands'.

I don't know any more than is shown in the video. I, too, have trouble with cold hands these days. Use mittens or heated gloves for cold below 0 F.

18 F. and snowing like crazy with a little wind this time, so there will be some drifting. Winter storm warning in place until 9:00 AM tomorrow. Good thing we don't have any place we have to be tomorrow. I had a flat tire on the tractor from the last snowfall, and (I think) I have it fixed now. 10 to 15 more inches of snow predicted.

I don't have chains for my tractor. I thought about it but should have done more than that.:( My neighbor plows for me but he called and is getting a knee replacement now. NOW? He couldn't do it in September?

I haven't tried to get the tractor out of the shed yet this morning, but the shed and the other buildings are still standing so far. We have received about 4 feet in the past week and 2 feet last night. I think many businesses are closed for the day but I haven't checked. Two of my sons who commute have taken the day off, but I don't know that their businesses are closed; they just can't get there. It was 20 F. this morning and I have to get out and assess things in snow up to or over my waist. I don't remember this much snow in this short a period so early in the season. More is predicted for the end of the week. I'm guessing a white Christmas?

Finally got the tractor out and the drive mostly cleared. Temps around 20 and it is supposed to start snowing shortly. Expecting another 6 to 12 inches before it is over, but a week of clear weather is predicted to follow. Perhaps we are entering another mini ice age. We had cooling in the late '60s and early '70s if you recall, then the warming started. We still haven't reached the planetary warmth of the Enlightening when sea levels were quite high. According to what I have read on ice cores, warming always precedes an ice age, mini or otherwise, and seems to be related to the solar cycle and the position of the solar system within the galaxy. Only time will tell.
