At least I don't live on Lake Erie. I was just out in the backyard, in shorts and barefoot. So back to a normal Houston winter!!
It's 50 tonite. The snow is almost gone and slush and mud around. The animals are out playing in the puddles--yuck.
Has anyone found that those long term forecasts can be trusted? I have been going to s 10 day site for quite a long time and it has be reasonably reliable. Slight variations happen daily. Not perfect but reasonable. Today I to a monthly site. It indicated that after this nuts warm-up, the temps went back down to a gentler winter than may be normal for January or February, for here, but still recognizable as winter.
It appears that we have another good size snow event coming in Sunday evening into most of the day on Monday. Gonna ruin some NYE plans if snowing Sunday night.
Nope, the long-term forecasts cannot be trusted, especially on the coasts. I don't know why they even make them. When I messed with weather, our forecasts were about 75% accurate, but as computer algorithms and satellite technology has become more dominant, the forecasts have dropped to between 50%--60% accurate, but, of course, we never tried to forecast out 10 days. They do it now but it is entirely worthless. I trust the forecast out a day or sometimes two, but never beyond that.
Hot Hot …well reasonably warm …compared to what the temperatures can get up to here in South Aust summers 34c today ( New Year’s Eve ) that’s about 93 F
WOW !!! WHAT AM I LOOKING AT HERE - they are NOT HOUSES - RIGHT ? They CAN'T be !! I know they 'look' like houses - but REALLY ?? And how come there is no snow on the TREES behind them ? One thing is certain - I will never again complain about the bit of snow we get here, instead I'll come back to this photo and count my blessings !
